Islandography
Described as a "slightly caffeinated Stuart McLean," comedian and storyteller Justin Shaw spins hilarious, heartfelt cross-Canada tales inspired by leaving his Prince Edward Island home. ISLANDOGRAPHY is a fish-out-of-water comedy about finding your place, packed with big laughs and big feelings. An award-winning artist, Shaw has appeared on CBC's Laugh Out Loud, Comedy in Five, and SiriusXM Comedy Club. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and Artistic Director of Storytelling Toronto, Shaw's ISLANDOGRAPHY is for anyone who's ever had to leave home.
A fun filled journey through Justin's journey from his origins in PEI to how he arrived at our stage today. It was full of fun moments and also deep heart and soul. This is one "skit" that I greatly enjoyed and would recommend. It is an experience.
It is very funny! The presenter does well to get across his emotions as he goes on his cross-country adventure after leaving PEI, attending "Skit School", moving north, a near death experience to the present. I recommend that you attend!
High energy, funny, poignant, and meaningful. Standup comedy meets storytelling, this well-constructed show follows the story of someone leaving PEI for “Skit School” in Montreal and further afield. We laughed at all the scenes and marveled at how all the threads were tied up at the end. Impressive script and well executed acting. Thanks for coming to Whitehorse and tailoring the script in recognition that we’re even smaller than PEI.
To everyone who couldn't wait to leave behind their parents and home to realize they gave you the foundation to pursue your dreams and a lot of funny stories. Expect the journey to include a range of emotions and a lot of laughter. Loved, Loved this show....
Heartfelt, beautiful and bittersweet comedic storytelling. Could have been called ‘escape from PEI’, but that would have missed too many details. Excellent show.
Perfect use of call-backs, tied every single loose end together so wonderfully, but filled with references very specific to his generation/demographic, so there were probably many moments that completely went over my head!
Would have also loved to have heard more about PEI -- as Justin himself mentions, the odds of actually meeting someone from PEI are so incredibly low!
Show also ran 14 minutes late, causing me to miss my next show.
Well tbe crying wasnt just from laughing. Thoughtful, honrst snd relatable to many...especially if you're from a small town.
It wasnt so much the jokes but the insight into relationships that got me; thst said very funny!
Glad I chatted to him randomly outside the venue. Masterful story teller.
Have you ever had to leave home? Many of us have, and they often make great stories. This one takes us to several Canadian cities and introduces us to a few key characters, from poignant to rib-tickling funny. Had my full attention for over an hour.
Entertaining must-see show. Well-written show, brilliantly presented, with rare comedic timing and heartwarming moments. Everything you could hope for in a performance.
