Absolutely blown away by this play! 11/10! It was incredibly well written and had all the feels—from laugh-out-loud funny moments to those moments that left you a little teary-eyed.

The four actors were absolutely phenomenal, seamlessly bringing so many different characters to life. Their talent, versatility, and energy truly shone throughout the entire performance. You could tell how passionate and well-versed they are in their talent.

An incredible performance from start to finish. I would highly recommend this play to anyone- I look forward to what is to come in the future from this producer Bridgette! Bravo to all the actors and everyone involved! 👏🎭

This show was wonderful. As opposed to a concrete narrative, we get many different scenes showing the many ups and downs of love. The four actors who were in this did a great job, but the standout for me was Darienne who gave one of my favorite performance this year, with such specificity to the many characters she played. It was my first time seeing her perform and I will be sure to watch her next projects! Each scene was written with a great attention to detail, and the writing did an amazing job at making you feel attached to these characters who you are only seeing for such a short time. Perhaps too good of a job! If I was to see this again, I would love to see a version where we have less quantity of new scenes, and instead return to some of the other characters journeys. I’m also curious if there is a better way to handle transitions between scenes so there is less down time!

A sweet series of vignettes about love in all its forms, how it begins, how it ends, and the messy middles.

The actors were incredible! I was so impressed with the character choices and physicality that immediately distinguished the current scene's character from previous ones. Even though we only spent a few minutes with each character, they each felt believable, and the scenes we saw play out onstage felt like real moments between two people who have a long history together, or are just starting one.

I also really enjoyed just how varied the scenes were! We saw familial relationships, romantic relationships, and friendships represented as different forms of love. The scenes were also varied in style, which kept things interesting. That being said, this sometimes also made for some longer transitions between scenes.

This is one of those shows that I'm probably going to be thinking about for a long time. I know the exact point of the show was that we only see little snapshots of all the lives happening in this apartment building, but I do wonder what happened to some of those characters.

I went into this hoping for something that felt like the New York Times’ Modern Love column. The concept of love is so broad that I was excited for the possibilities that might be explored in this work.

The best vignettes are, in my opinion, the shortest: sub-30 second wordless scenes of subtle expressions of love for another.

However, just about every scene with words are embarrassingly derivative. At best, this feels like the playwright was writing teen sitcom dialogue, both artificial and cliche. At worst, this feels like a teen’s writing exercise performed by a high school drama class, lacking the depth of life experience to write compelling and complex work. I was genuinely shocked by how predictable and unoriginal the dialogue was.

One memorable monologue over the phone was written in such an unusual way as to not sound like a real person talking. It felt like the playwright was speaking through the character with what they wished they had said in that situation, making for a weirdly stilted and moralizing scene.

The show opens with overlapping audio of people taking, as if to suggest this collection of scenes will explore a diverse range of experiences with love. This is demonstrably false. Of the scenes of romantic/sexual love, only a handful are of queer love. Of those, a couple are discussions of an absent “they” character; I personally don’t think you can count a mentioned character who isn’t even on stage as a queer presence. One other is a monologue about a gay couple getting an STI, and another is a scene of a queer woman’s unrequited love for her female (presumed straight) friend. These narratives are stereotypical and overwhelmingly negative; there is no exploration of the joy or complexities of queer love.

Likewise, this show could’ve been a slam dunk of diverse casting considering that there are four actors in the ensemble who move through various roles that could be any race. To talk about the diversity of love and not address mixed-race relationships, non-White cultural experiences of dating, or really anything that’s not White, straight size, heterosexual love feels very dated in 2026.

There was also product placement in two of the scenes, which just felt awkward and shoehorned in. There’s nothing quite like being jarred out of a play by the thought, “Is this an ad?”

Overall, nothing in the performances could sell this script to me. I neither felt entertained nor moved. Every emotion felt muted by the insincerity of the dialogue. When I come to an independent play by a local artist, I don’t come to hear sentences that belong in a cliche rom-com. I come to hear something original, something that surprises me or speaks to some kernel of truth about the human condition. Playwrights, I beg you to stop letting TV and film dialogue poison your work. Write something real.

I've had the privilege to witness this talented writers work for a couple years now and they always brings me back wanting more.

This work of art brings together the different forms of love and the many ways we experience it.

Whether it be through laughter, heartache, tears, or personal experience this play will have you drawn in and connecting with the characters in the different scenes.

Take it from me this writer will have you wanting more. Cannot wait to see what's next!

A wonderful look into relationships, love, and how they interact. Wonderful cast, wonderful writing, and wonderful people. Loved it, and I look forward to seeing what these fine folk produce and star in in the future!

IHIK is an amazing show of love, loss, and happiness. It highlights many types of love and conveys how love is not always sunshine and rainbows or butterflies in your stomach.

Each member of the cast does an amazing job of transforming between characters to carry us through a variety of situations that each highlight a different form of love.

The emotion and characters are very moving with moments that will make you laugh and some that may make you cry.

It is a wonderful and impactful show that I would recommend seeing if you get the chance.

This show has a lot of potential and some really well-written dialogue and monologues, all about different aspects of love. I especially loved that so many aspects of love were represented, the platonic, the romantic, familial, etc. There were some strong performances, with the standout being Sam Daly. Some moments felt too fast, or the level of emotion did not match the stakes of the situation, but overall an enjoyable production to watch!

This play, made up of four actors who each play countless different characters, is a series of small scenes all with the common theme of love. Now, you could think this only means romantic love — but that’s not the only kind of love that there is. From a painful breakup, divorce, love between a mother and daughter, loving someone who doesn’t love you back, grief, or even a first date, “it’s how i know” shows perfectly that love can come in so, so many forms. Love can even be sitting at the table together playing geometry dash.

A heartfelt, meaningful, and well put-together show, this play is perfect for anyone who has ever wondered what love really means in a person's life. A combination of happy, devastating, funny, and relatable small moments, “it’s how i know” demonstrates well how we all experience love in our lives, no matter how different they may be.

This show depicts all the different forms of "love". With the short acts flowing so seamlessly together, you will find yourself laughing, crying and questioning "what does it mean to love and to be loved?" The actors did a wonderful job going between the different characters with full conviction. I found myself very emotional at the end of the show. It will make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

This is an unforgettable show! A unique series of vignettes which represent love within the same apartment building. The actors were all incredibly talented, switching from one role to another seamlessly. They made the audience laugh and cry; connecting us to the lives of the characters and leaving us wondering about their lives long after we left the auditorium. This show is a gem and not to be missed.
