Absolutely obsessed in the best way. This show is such a delight. Charming, deeply funny, silly and relatable. I laughed so hard my cheeks were hurting then found myself burst into tears by the end. Definitely recommend and would see again!
This show started like a regular stand-up show with material on typical subjects, like dating—done very well, but normal. THEN there is tap-dancing! Guitar-playing! Wigs! Character work! All while Candy shares the often difficult story of her life. This show is what Fringe is about, to me: addressing serious issues with comedy and creativity. There wasn’t a boring minute in the show, and I absolutely loved it.

QUEENAGE WASTELAND is an autobiographical comedy, performed by Candy Roberts, of stories of her Gen-X childhood as she looks at her past as she was growing up and aging. With a mix of clowning, stand-up comedy and story telling.
There were some comedic moments that I ended up enjoying a bit, while others didn’t really hit for me but for others in the audience it did. It also felt a little bit hard to keep track of what was going on in terms of the storyline, though it was still quite enjoyable. The ending was humorous which made it a bit more memorable
Although some of the humor wasn’t really my cup of tea, the other jokes were hilarious!

The jokes in this were only sometimes my preferred type of humor, which comes down to preference. Sometimes millenial-adjacent humor grates on me personally. I loved Larry when I saw it several years ago, but compared to that this show lacked a sustained throughline. There were a lot of pieces put together, but some felt only slightly related. I was hoping to see something more focused. That said, I did quite like the ending and there were a few gags that had me honking like a goose.
Absolutely hilarious! Incredibly relatable for anyone who's lived an ✨interesting✨ life. Also, lots of important social themes included. 100/10 would see again.
