This was a raw and striking performance! The mood organically shifts from playful to harrowing moment to moment as the two protagonists navigate the tribulations of their life in hiding. Beneath the bleak reality these women face is a story about friendship, longing, jealousy, and difficult choices one makes in order to survive.

A creatively ambitious two-hander that transcends its focused scope with assured performances, a finely-tuned voice, and rare precision of vision. The show quivers with an inescapable intensity—to attend is to enter the box, and to exit is to have the box take shape within you.

I wish I hadn’t gone to see this alone, or that I’d had the courage to turn to someone next to me afterwards. This is one of those pieces that can spark conversation.

The actresses were phenomenal. Their performances felt raw, intense, and (purposefully) unhinged. They also had great chemistry together, playing characters who were opposite in many ways while being in a strange, co-dependent relationship.

Even with a fairly simple setup, the piece never felt long or boring. The story continued to move forward through the dialogue and monologues of the two women, gradually revealing more about their relationship and their reality.

I really appreciated the lighting direction as well. It made a noticeable difference in how the actresses appeared, which felt especially important given that the audience surrounded the box-like space from different angles. I also enjoyed the visuals running on the screen in the background. They added atmosphere and a stronger sense of unease to what was happening onstage.

A lot to think about in this production. As the creator herself acknowledges in her program notes, this is a play that poses questions without simple answers.

The entertainment value is high: the action is surprisingly fast-paced and exciting for a two-person show with a minimal set. The acting is excellent and the language is layered and evocative. The setting is intimate and the audience is immersed in the actors' reality.

This is both an incredibly unique story and a tale as old as time. It explores how human beings negotiate unthinkable and untenable situations.

A super intense experience. Just when you think it is OK the plot turns again. The set and location takes you another world. So many questions. It really made me think. Could this happen to me? How would I handle it? The actors are ALL-IN. The characters are right there - close. You are sharing the experience. This is really happening. Amazing use of multi media. Sounds and clever images confirm the plot - yes this is really happening. Horror meets 1984. Great show. Bravo.
