Laughed So Hard I Cried

See this show to prepare for the oncoming Goosepololyse. I learned some valuable survival strategies and goose facts, like to never try to strangle a goose and to stock up on the banned pesticide DDT. Beware the cobra chicken.

Not My Cup of Tea

Although the actor was very effective, I found it a bit difficult to connect to this show and I didn't quite understand what they were doing with the script. There are definitely references in this play to history and other mythology, some which I caught and others that probably went over my head. I was a bit confused with the point of the story overall, I suppose it's just meant to be an interesting experiment to think about how this character would fit (or not fit) in society through the ages. Doing a whole show in iambic pentameter is pretty impressive and I'm sure this was a challenge for the artist.

Ten-tickles My Fancy

This show was fun and educational. I really enjoyed the message and learning about this history. Very strong cast with great commitment to their characters; funny and powerful. The plot summary does not mention the connection to Oscar Wilde, if you're a fan of his work or his story this is a must-watch. A couple drawbacks from an otherwise amazing show: 1) I felt the start was a bit uneven and confusing, it took a bit to find its footing. Once they got to the core narrative it was easy to get into, I wish they had started there. 2) This cast deserves to have mics. The acoustics in this venue are not great and the old pews are loud and creaky when people move. There was a short part with music where I couldn't really hear the actors and only got the gist of what was going on. Make sure to get a spot closer to the front if you have any hearing issues.

Ten-tickles My Fancy

This is a fun show for a good laugh with friends. It was darker than I expected, especially the end which really revelled in the dark humour. Beyond just critiquing MLMs and cults, this show has a lot to say about toxic positivity and hustle culture as a whole. I do think this has too many songs, as I felt a few of them were not very well written with amateurish lyrics and didn't really need to be there, which dragged the show down a bit. At the same time, there were some bangers- my favourite being when two friends try to recruit one another to their respective scams. The opening number was also awesome. Editing down the songs would have allowed these stronger numbers to really shine, and elevate this script from good to great. That said, the group I went with all thoroughly enjoyed it and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Laughed So Hard I Cried

My favourite show I've seen so far, I was very impressed with this musical. I empathize with the reviewer who discussed the sound issues. I saw it on the first night and was near the front, but there were some mic issues. Hopefully they have been able to troubleshoot this because the cast is too good to not be heard. The singing, dancing, and acting were all on point. The songs were all absolute bangers, and the political and religious critique was done well. The impressions- Trump and, randomly, Moira Rose- were spot on. Totally hilarious but also features a really sweet love story. I laughed and cried. Can't recommend it enough and I wish the cast every success.

See It Again

I don't think I've seen anything like this before at Fringe- in a good way! It's a play within a play, but not how you're used to seeing it. This is a very unique show from an emerging new local playwright/director. Explores the idea of creation and creativity, and would be a great watch for fellow artists who have gone through the difficult process of writing or producing something meaningful. It's a thoughtful, existential exploration- but expect to laugh too as it's got a healthy sprinkling of jokes. Great cast, cool twist at the end. Check it out!
