My rating: if this show is calling you, grab a ticket. The 2 people I saw this with agreed.
There are a ton of laughs—even the set has some chuckles in it—and I especially enjoyed what Nitin Anand brought to the show with puppetry.
My rating: see this show even if you're on the fence about it.
Jaeli Bruno is an outstanding actor. It was impressive how deftly a large range of characters came from one performer, sometimes in rapid succession but with distinct clarity. I felt immersed the entire time. Some of the characters were written as caricatures, which does show strong contrast but I wonder if the play would benefit from more subtlety in some respects. This is a moving piece that gives the audience a lot to think about.
My rating: see this show even if you're on the fence about it. I went with 6 others and they all felt the same way or stronger about that recommendation.
The level of talent on this stage is impressive, particularly strong singing and charismatic performances across the board. There are many great laughs and the serious parts of the show land too. I will be looking out for more shows featuring any of these actors.
The story is well told, every song was tight, and while there are intentionally zany antics the emotional arc felt authentically believable.
