Audience cries of "ole" were in syncopation with the incredible rhythms and stylish grace of these incredible talented flamenco dancers. Ably supported by a superb Spanish guitarist. A Fringe treat for all and a loving tribute to the power of Spanish women.

Not My Cup of Tea

This was the last of our many fringe shows and it put a real damper on an otherwise great experience. It was more like a badly performed lecture than a theatrical show and it mainly just sensationalized several cults a la Jerry Springer. It contained almost no depth, no real analysis of why cults happen and focused mainly on associated violence. Wish we hadn't booked this

What Diane does with a few tidbits from the life of an audience volunteer is astounding. This is Fringe theatre at its best -- a clever, witty and highly entertaining riff of someone's "normal" life transcends it into thoughtful and sometimes hard edged theatre.

I don't know if she ever has a weaker show (presumably by picking someone without good story bits) but I doubt it. Judging from the reviews, she aces it every time. What a delight!

A talented duo took full advantage of the outdoor venue in Ron Basford Park as members of a far-away cult travelling the world following the instructions of their leader. While the overall premise didn't work as well as it might, the singing, choreography and sheer energy of the principals, well supported by two bewigged blonde techies, made for a rather unique and imaginative show. It got a bit chilly towards the end of the show and I thought it fortunate that the actors were from Edmonton!

While this was not as Shakespearean in its language as last year's group, the cast riffed brilliantly off a story from an audience member about a family party that ended up with their guest chalet being burned down. So, very fine improv but perhaps stretching it a bit to bill it as Shakespeare.

A show that is entertaining with considerable and well considered audience involvement, it also addresses key issues around colonialism in a clever and entertaining manner. Somewhat ironically, when looking for someone from India in the audience, the performers only found someone from Karachi. Too bad this Fringe audience didn't have a broader representation from the real Vancouver and the real Canada.

The concept of this show is excellent but neither the writing nor the acting lived up to our expectations. Very disappointed.

A really fun hour of improv with lots of audience participation and the unique notion that one of the actors is actually an imposter. I thought that the cast might be disappointed to have a relatively small venue on a rooftop but it turns out that one of the actors actually owns the cafe in which it takes place. Given its size,it sells out fast.

See It Again

Brilliant improvisation applyiing Shakespeare to a family issue raised by an audience member. Amazing team that riffs off the story without any apparent group consultation before embarking on the story. Well worth more than one visit because every show is different. A perfect fringe show!

A wonderfully talented and energetic team that works so well together with great musicians to present an entertaining and skilful hour of tap dancing. Well worth the visit!
