Hang in there!
What do we owe someone who has decided his life is complete?
As friends, loved ones, and a government official grapple with one man’s unshakable choice, old loyalties crack and buried tensions rise. A new drama about autonomy, obligation, and the limits of love.
I wanted to like this soooo badly. The concept really intrigued me, especially with all the current discussions surrounding real-life self-completion programs. I was very interested to see what the play would have to say about the subject.
Unfortunately, I had difficulty hearing many of the actors, so I missed some chunks of dialogue. I also felt there was much more to explore, and that 45 minutes simply wasn’t enough time for such a complex topic. The script did not allow us to fully understand the characters or explore their motivations in much depth. Even the main character felt underdeveloped.
There is definitely something here. With more time and further development, I think this could become a very strong and thought-provoking play.
I was looking for something that would make me think about life and autonomy. This play fell short. The characters were one-dimensional. The main character was not in any way likeable. We needed a backstory for sure. The Ministry of health worker's shoes were incredibly distracting. I understand that was probably part of the writing to create tension but because the actors weren't able to project their voices. Her shoes made it hard to hear. The were two main characters had strong stage presence and were easy to hear. The other actors voices did not carry. I think the premise of this play is interesting and if further developed could go somewhere. It definitely looks like the actress had fun with the fight scenes
what a cool premise! i wont spoil it. the main character is really solid. the support cast is not nearly as strong as he is in terms of character believability or able to project their voices. the set was perfect and stage direction felt real. story coudl have gone deeper for the main character... what happened when he was 16?
Premise is interesting, but the execution falls flat. The characters are one-dimensional, especially the main character, who feels more like an archetype than an actual person. The cast shows potential, but the writing keeps them from ever reaching it.
Cool set.. well used. Lots to ponder.. during and AFTER the show. Good job.
