A comedy show like no other. Herbert Henries has made the leap from Canada’s Got Talent to your hearts-and now, quite practically, into the Edmonton Fringe Festival in search of steady employment.
Laughed so hard he had me in just enough to rate his show as PG-13, this act is full of potent twists and turns, you never know what he will say next! I adore his innovative creativity and crowd work, I travelled all the way from Calgary to see him live! My favourite part is the roast at the end!! Your hired for my next event Herbert! Here’s to landing another sponsor! Cheers to Herbert Henries! He’s got talent!!!
Hilarious! My belly still hurts from seeing it yesterday. Herbert's dead-pan delivery of various crude jokes, dad jokes and crowd work was fantastically entertaining. I would see this again and again!
Product Placement, the Show
A comedy show following Herbert’s desperate quest for employment, this performance had the crowd in stitches.
The audience participation connected the room, as well as with his awkward, crude jokes. The improvisation was hilarious and the reaction with the volunteers that were invited on stage really brought the show together.
Though awkward, Hebert has a never ending fanny pack of tricks, and a mind full of jokes. His set was simple, but every pocket held props that were revealed throughout the show.
While the performance was at times uncomfortable, as well as short and crass, Herbert needs work was creative, personal, funny, and enjoyable.
If a multitalented and industrious former Canada's Got talent contestant like Herbert is struggling to find work, we're all doomed. But maybe, just maybe, a potential corporate sponsor will be able to give him the boost he so deserves.
During this 45-minute job interview, see him flex his comedic muscles, perform death-defying feats, dazzle you with improv, and pepper you with visual gags and hilarious one-liners, and see for yourself what Herbert could do for your business. Hell, he'll even mow your lawn or sell you a sexual innuendo if you need one.
Delivering jokes with a deadpan, yet earnest demeanor may not land him a CEO gig, but I think Herbert's onto something. Friday afternoon’s audience was laughing non-stop before the beer tent even opened, which, in my opinion, is a sign of a winning candidate.
If you want to do him a solid, put yourself on the interview panel (in a cushy seat in the Walterdale Theatre), and put him to the test. After all, Herbert Needs Work, and in this economy, it might take a few more performances to get there.
