No Actual Sin

Introducing C.E. Hoffman's performance of her award-winning chapbook NO ACTUAL SIN. Winner of the 2022 Defunct Magazine Chapbook Contest, NO ACTUAL SIN is a journey of chaos, loss, and self-discovery, a literary landscape of sex and surrealism. Expect madness and magic as Hoffman blurs the line between theatre and literature.

Waves of Life

The only actual sin one can ever have is probably not seeing this performance as soon as they can.

As I entered the venue, I did not know what to expect from the performance, as it was different from all the other shows I had seen thus far. In full honesty, I could say that I had goosebumps throughout C.E. Hoffman’s performance because of her careful and unbelievable articulation of feelings that are difficult to navigate and areas that are difficult to venture into. Indeed, I can say that this show has hit close to home as it tackles significant life obstacles.

If you wish to see a performance that is realistic and Lady Bird-coded, this show is your best match. Come see it as it runs until August 24th at venue 7: Chianti Yardbird Suite

Check this show out if you are a fan of poetry and spoken word: with its gripping use of language I was engaged and couldn't look away. Stories and poetry that led me to laugh, to cry and to reflect. Meaningful and important, with wit, humor and vulnerability about the darkness of our world and a writer's battle for hope amidst it. Leave this show feeling inspired and a bit more able to face the world

Intense, raw, vulnerable. This spoken word/poetry production walks us through the struggles and pain of abuse and self-doubt, and shows us that, even so, we can still rise again. Beautifully performed, poignant and heartfelt, we feel the pain, the strength, and the hope along with CE Hoffman, the sole performer and creator of No Actual Sin. Highly recommend!

C.E. Hoffman’s performance is a masterclass in raw, poetic storytelling. Their reading left me speechless—equal parts emotional, deeply relatable, and darkly funny. If you see just one show at the Fringe this year, make it this one.
