Questing Through Life

Four friends escape into a mysterious Dungeons & Dragons–style game... until the line between fantasy and reality begins to blur. As their choices in the game start to echo in real life, their newfound power grows increasingly tempting. Questing Through Life is a magical play about chance, consequence, and the role of fiction in the modern experience.

Mind Blown

I saw the show on Tuesday and really loved it. I got completely pulled into the story, somewhere between real life and fantasy.

It’s honestly amazing that the writer and director is only 17. She has such a big imagination. The young cast were great too, and really showed the challenges young people are going through today.

The dragon puppet was so cool, especially with two people bringing it to life. My favourite part was when the dragon and the group went off on their adventure together.

Thank you to all the young artists for such a lovely experience.

A week later, I am still thinking about how moved I was. This writer and cast were able to capture what it’s really like to live in the grind, and meet your friends for a fantasy break where you can be heroes together. Every member of the cast was a loveable and believable character (or two), who didn’t overact and compelled me more than many I’ve seen at Stratford and Shaw. The use of the stage was great, using simple props and some creative and delightful blocking choices. I can’t rave enough about the writing - how is this young person so skilled?! The queer characters were real people living real world struggles from banal to tragic. I hope I get to see more from this playwright, and if this ever gets performed on a large commercial stage I’ll be the first to buy a ticket. What an incredible story, brought entirely to life! Truly excellent work. If I could see it 10 times, I would.

this show had great writing and great premise. many of the actors spoke too quietly. from throat not diaphragm. blocking was good and puppet character was awesome.
