The cast created a great story from an audience member’s suggestion — Shakespearean in style, but with a modern twist. And the way they can speak in Shakespearean language throughout the whole show — extraordinary! What a show!
Great ensemble bringing an audience member’s story to life in a Shakespeare play. It looks like Shakespeare, it sounds like Shakespeare, and it’s all made up as they go along. Very funny and expertly done.

Hilarious every time! I try to see them as many times whenever they're here. Highly accessible, even if you don't like the Elizabethan English of traditional Shakespeare.
What an amazing show to see, I got to see them perform twice and both times were very entertaining! If you love drama and comedy and a cast of people who love what they do, definitely see this show!
As amazing as I remember, the group hit it out of the park again! Every member is obviously well verse in the works of Shakespeare and masters of weaving in the feel and character that populates his plays. While obviously always a little silly in nature, the drama and twists that unfold are still incredibly enrapturing and kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering just how they would resolve their story. I appreciate how they gather their prompt, and that they admit upfront that they are not trying to perfectly recreate the audience members prompt, but using it to inspire their story.
As always, I think it definitely worth seeing if you can, and more than once if you're able!
Not only are they hilarious improvisors, but Spontaneous Shakespeare understands that the story also needs to be good in order to be a good show. They manage to create a three act plot structure with themes and clear characters seamlessly off of just one audience member's prompt. The company clearly works very well together, and they have an innate sense of when a scene needs to end or when it can keep going. You are always in for an excellent show with these folks, and no two shows are the same!
While this was not as Shakespearean in its language as last year's group, the cast riffed brilliantly off a story from an audience member about a family party that ended up with their guest chalet being burned down. So, very fine improv but perhaps stretching it a bit to bill it as Shakespeare.
