The Trouble with My Hair

Honest, sincere and humourous.

I thought this was a wonderful Fringe show. Ada is a brave actor and storyteller, and she gave our audience a gracious and generous performance that embraced many moments of humour, honesty, and vulnerability.

I enjoyed her unique staccato-like delivery of her text, and the way she used body movement that was simple but effective. I also thought it was really sweet how she said good-bye to each individual audience member at the end of the show.

Although I don't usually love 1-person shows, I can happily say that I adored this one and will remember it for a long time. I think it's well worth a watch, especially for anyone who is especially interested in themes of self-discovery through: racial and cultural challenges, gender/sexual identity, and haircuts (lol).

A very loveable performance and performer.

I went to this because it's fun to see an out-of-town artist(Cheng is from Chicago) & who doesn't have trouble with their hair? It was a story about Cheng sorting thru feelings about her childhood & coming-of-age thru a lens of hair mishaps & wins. I went to her 1st show, it took a few mins for me to warm up to the material but I soon was mesmerized by it & her delivery. Honest, insightful & beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us, Ada.

Loved this sweet vulnerable presentation and learned a lot!
