Unfinished Business

To the actors: WOW! I stumbled into your last show on the last night just on a whim and I am so glad I did. What a show! It was so fun. Such incredible audience care and fun interaction and the way you connected the dots on all those ridiculous characters was masterful. The premise is so funny.

For anyone else: These two are excellent at acting like incompetent sleuths while actually performing really difficult storytelling to connect all these random ideas from the audience.

They interviewed a kid on stage who could recite pie and then made the number of pie a crucial clue in the murder case, lol.

Fringe is over so if you are reading this you probably missed out. But I had to share. I will definitely watch for it and see it again if it pops up in Vancouver. Cannot wait!! I voted for Moses!! lol

Well after reading the other reviews, they must have found their stride, because I saw last night's show and it was just AMAZING. They built a case around Einstein travelling through time and it was just hilarious. The way they play off each other is just lovely. I don't know how they can make all that up on the spot! You won't be disappointed especially if you like a balance of skilled improv with a healthy dose of good-natured stupid humor.

This show, while having an interesting promise, needs more development before I feel it can be truly great. While the idea of an improvised murder mystery is fun, the format left a lot to be desired. It was too unstructured, and felt that the performers hadn't experimented to see what sort of plot lines they could successfully pull off. The audience was asked to provide far to many prompts, making each scene a mess of trying to fit as much connection in as possible. Often times the performers would deny the others offer, or push it into areas that were seemingly uncomfortable for the other. There was a timer mechanic that was not properly used, but I'm unsure how it would have mattered even if it had worked properly. At the end the audience is asked to vote between two suspects who both didn't really have any motivations for the murder, and thus the audience chose the funnier of the two. There wasn't an arrest scene, and the show just ended after.

I feel like instead of having two performers being both the investigators and the actors in the scenes, it would be better served by a third improviser playing both the role of a sole investigator and being a moderator for the other two improvisers, helping drive and sculpt the scenes. It would have made for a more cohesive performance.

This show did, unfortunately, live up to its name. The concept was intriguing, but the two improvisors did not seem to be on the same page or feel that comfortable with each other. I think they could give it another try next year with some more experience and another performer or two to control the flow of the scenes better. Coming into the show with a more solid framework to build off of rather than purely audience generated prompts might also help.

Great fun! Fresh and fast. These two are a unique pair. I laughed watching them work themselves into a corner and get stumped . it's also fun to participate and try to help bail them out. This feels like a Fringe show you won't see anywhere else which is exactly what I was looking for. 👍👍

I'm really sorry to leave an unfavourable review, but I think attendees should know in advance that this is an improvised show and that the structure of the show is not very clear. At the weekend matinee that I watched, there were some fun moments and some good engagement and interaction with the audience, however the two on-stage actors never quite seemed on the same wavelength with how to do their improv together. Having watched many different Fringe shows over the last 10+ years, I sincerely feel that this one should not charge a full price ticket. Would love to see the project evolve to a higher calibre, but for now I think it's going to be a hit-or-miss for audiences.

This show will not win any artistic awards but oh boy did I laugh a lot! This was a real treat after seeing another really intense and almost depressing show. I was thankful for the silly comedy of a misfit duo. Some audience members go on stage to help out drawing clues and it's a real good time. And we won! I want to see it again to see if any audience actually loses! Allow yourself to let your hair down and see some stupid-fun comedy, but not recommended if you are looking for highly polished theatre.

A fun take on the crime show circuit.

The play needs to be workshopped more until the performers have a better idea of the basic structure they want to follow. Hesitations and soft voices leave the audience feeling awkward. Even Improv needs a trajectory, and it was either not there, or hard to follow. The occasional laugh didn’t make up for what was overall a slow and tedious hour. No stars, sorry

It was a very funny show. The actors came up with unique ideas and built on each other’s ideas, as well as those of the audience, beautifully, creating great chemistry on stage.

Great premise but the improv wasn’t quite clicking in the show we saw. I suppose every show is different so maybe just an off night. It was still fun, but felt a little awkward. Overall though, nice idea, good engagement with the audience, and you’ll have a good time if you see this show.

These two talented actors engage the audience in a comedic murder mystery. Their ability to switch into different characters and carry the story line is truly amazing. . Improv at its best.!! To be able to take audience input and weave it into a comedic mystery is mind boggling. Don't miss this one!!

Such a fun show! We laughed so much!! I loved what they did with the "lathe" suggestion lol. One of them didn't know what a lathe was and it was hilarious. They are exactly what they say they are "really bad investigators who make a mess of things." Highly recommend if you want a fun, silly time where you get to participate and yell stuff out. We might see it again if our time allows.

Unfinished Business feels like an unfinished show. Or at least one that needs more reps. The cold case, audience involvement setup is a really fun idea, but the performers struggled to find chemistry and the storyline became tangled and incomprehensible. This could be really fun once they get more reps in. Maybe try near the end of the Fringe.
