Weird Owl Karaoke

This show has everything. From the intro song everything is so well done.

Weird Owl Karaoke poses as a parody song comedy show, but the real draw is the finely curated puppet based bs spread throughout. Its two owl puppet hosts bring on their puppet friends to discuss whatever their whole deal might be. Usually something the average Fringe goer can get behind like supporting Ken Sim, turning the city into an AI datacenter or appropriating Italian culture.

There's an entire wiki dedicated to the show's 10 years of lore and characters. And if like me you have read every page, when a pool noodle glued in the shape of a Y comes on stage to claim they returned from the Nega Verse after being banished by Weird Owl Sr you will think to yourself, "Well obviously."

This was a bit of a fever dream. Some owls were talking about turning the city into an AI data centre and one of them was running for mayor. Jesus Christ, as a puppet, appeared and described his workout routine that began at 2:45am every morning. A giant letter Y tried to convince the audience that the letter Y should be used more often (Y-supremacist). The mascot for Scotties Tissue Paper placed free tissue paper under everyone's chair that we were told to use for bloody coughs only. Some ladies that ran the wikipedia page for the show held the performance hostage. Everything that happened seemed like it was a surprise to everyone else that was on the show. Comedians also sang original parody songs.

What a fun show! I'd definitely recommend seeing it! I went to two so far and it's different every time with different performers and new songs each time! The parody songs are witty and hilarious, and you can tell everyone's having a great time, both audience members and performers. Only a few more shows left, so try to catch a show before the end of the Fringe!
