Promise & Promiscuity: A New Musical By Jane Austen & Penny Ashton

After a decade away Ashton’s beloved Austen musical returns, sparkling as ever. Join Elspeth as she battles literary snobbery, cousin Horatio’s digestions and her mother’s nerves, armed only with a blushing countenance, excellent ukulele skills and being quite bright… for a girl. In this hilarious, one-(freakishly talented)-woman show, Penny (NZ) tackles all of Austen’s characters with song, dance and appalling cross-stitching.

See It Again

Penny Ashton is an unbelievably talented performer and this show highlights her equally impressive writing. She did a masterful job of playing at least a dozen characters and giving each a little idiosyncrasy where It was immediately evident who is speaking. The plot is fun, the word interplay is full of wit And if you’re a Jane Austin fan, you’re gonna be in heaven. Penney is here from New Zealand. Don’t miss her show before she heads back.

Laughed So Hard I Cried

This brilliant show has everything I love - a sharp, clever script, great songs, and brilliant acting from all of the characters - all written/performed by Penny. It even has some genuine heart and the audience will not be disappointed in how all the plots tie up in the end. If you are an Austen enthusiast, or just a pop culture fan, you will enjoy this precision performance!!
