Jimmy Hogg: Potayto Potahto

The British comedian and 12X BEST OF FRINGE WINNER returns. “Hogg is a fantastically engaging performer, sort of like if Ricky Gervais had more energy” Edmonton Journal “Part Rik Mayall, Eric Idle and Eddie Izzard. Laughed So Hard I Cried

On the surface, this is classic stand up comedy. And excellent at that. But Jimmy is a rare comedian whose jokes excel isolation AND arc into a cleverly woven whole. He is an elder statesman of the Canadian Fringe scene, in that other artists look up to him and that he is older than most of us. The respect is well-earned.

Great story teller. Fast, and funny. Settle in for a great hour of aughs and banter. Selling out if not totally sold out. Get on it.

Laughed So Hard I Cried

Die-hard Jimmy Hogg fan here. We first saw him at last year's Vancouver Fringe, and when we saw he was coming back this year we snapped up tickets as fast as we could. I don't even know how to describe his storytelling style. Storytelling on steroids? Digressively transgressive? Frenzied fun? Whatever. One thing for sure: he's pants-peeingly hilarious, and we'll keep coming back for more as long as Jimmy keeps coming back to the Fringe!

Laughed So Hard I Cried

Very funny storytelling from a performer who does it all for you, from scanning your tickets at the door to his own lights and sound (because he's too cheap to hire anyone else). Witty and hilarious. I also came away with a new phrase to describe boasters too. Go see it!

Down to Earth and on the Floor Laughing

Despite being British, Jimmy Hogg really knows how to get a Canadian crowd going. Potayto Potahto is an incredibly grounded, relatable, and humorously crass show that will get anyone on the floor laughing. Hogg has an incredible energy and stage presence that will have you clapping and laughing like no one’s business. From the moment your tickets are scanned by the incredibly courageous Hogg himself, you know how fantastic the comedy is going to be. With such an incredibly personable comedian, I cannot imagine anyone having a bad time at this astoundingly entertaining show. Tangents from greater storylines all lead back to amazing punchlines and callbacks, something Hogg has a unique talent for. As long as you aren’t an uppity banker who can’t help but brag about their passive income or a Johnny Two-Sheds, I am certain you will have a blast at Potayto Potahto.
