Love & Craic
Storyteller Carlyn Rhamey (The ADHD Project) takes you on a Celtic adventure like no other - Irish cliffs, handsome rebels, Viking ghosts, and runaway underpants. This award-winning show (SAOR) returns, bolder and wilder than ever. Because well-behaved women rarely make history. “ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS” - My Entertainment World
What a great story teller!
From the get, I was transported into her adventure. She was able to make me feel what she was feeling throughout. A glorious story where I even learned a thing or two. It was like I was on the trip with her.
10/10 would highly recommend
Best show I've seen in years. Funny, heartfelt, high energy, highly recommended!
Carolyn Rhamey is the definition of a storyteller. She stands on an empty stage with no props and transports the audience to Europe, with accents, movement, history, disaster, love affairs and SPOILER ALERT something that Amsterdam is famous for. All told with humor, optimism and the determination to move forward.
In the intimate setting of Off The Tracks, Carlyn invites us along on her journey through Ireland and the story of her life. Anyone who has travelled, loved, made plans, or got lost and found again will find resonance and delight in the work of this compelling storyteller.
What a delightful ride this was! Carlyn had me from the minute she walked out on stage to the minute the lights went down. A masterclass in storytelling, and a fabulous performance overall. The script itself was witty and full of heart; I’m so happy I got to see this. Please go see it! You’ll laugh, you’ll feel your heartstrings tug, and you’ll want to go to Ireland and Scotland by the end of it.
This delightful show explores one woman’s world travels as she learns more about herself, what it means to be alone and strangers you meet along life’s journey. From laughter to emotional, Carlyn Rhamey is an incredible storyteller and actor that captures her audience for the full 60 minutes you are in her care. A must see!
Staged in the wonderfully intimate (and tasty) Off The Tracks café, it was an intimate and occasionally bawdy one woman’s story of a trip to Ireland. With digressions. MANY delightful digressions. The joy of self discovery through serendipitous encounters with “Murphy’s Law” (Murphy’s opportunity?) at times funny, awkward, heartbreaking and finally heartwarming. GO SEE THIS.
In Love and Craic, Carlyn Rhamey delivers a stunning display in solo storytelling. With nothing but an empty stage and her relentless charisma, Rhamey whisks the audience away on a journey through the hills of Ireland and the coasts of Scotland. It’s a one-woman show, but it feels like an entire world comes alive before your eyes. The use of her descriptive dialogue is able to bring the story to life in such a captivating way that I kept wanting more.
What makes Love and Craic truly unforgettable, though, is how hilariously relatable it is. Rhamey explores the trials and triumphs of solo travel for all the comedy and chaos it has to offer. From awkward encounters, to travel mishaps, and unexpected friendships each piece of the story is delivered with the perfect combination of wit and humor. But beyond the laughs, there’s a deep and powerful emotional core. Rhamey’s expressions of vulnerability, joy, loneliness, and gratitude are so raw and genuine that you feel everything with her, as if you're experiencing it first hand.
Her performance is more than just storytelling, it's the transportation into the world of her journey. She has a special gift in making a room full of strangers feel so connected to her story. Love and Craic isn't just a love letter to Celtic culture and travel, but also the human connections that make both so meaningful.
Smoking and Loving Craic
Two things: I absolutely loved this performance and had some of the best craic!
This show was not just a rollercoaster ride, but an entire amusement park experience. Sitting on a step stool, Carlyn Rhamey narrated tales from her solo-travel journey to Ireland, Scotland, and other places where she found connection, friendship, and love. Rhamey transported everyone as she spectacularly painted a picture of the moments from her travels that had a sentimental meaning to her. The performance features the challenges she encountered while travelling alone, as well as how it helped her achieve enlightenment about the storms in her life that she weathered.
Undoubtedly, this performance deserves to be seen by many, as it not only contains comedic attributes but also insights about life. Come watch it as soon as you can, as it runs until August 23rd at venue 3: Nordic Studio Theatre.
