See It Again

This show was not what I expected—it was so much more. First, Steven has a beautiful voice and just such charm as a performer. You can’t help but like him, and his performance is very polished and professional. Second, the story is a thoughtful presentation of what drag can mean to someone. Of all the shows I’ve seen so far, this is the one I can most see becoming a bigger production beyond the Fringe circuit.

How can Brigham Morris Young, the fourth Brigham and the fifteenth son, differentiate himself from the others? Simple! Become the late, great Mormon Drag Queen named Madame Pattirini!

Based on the true story of the "Qween of the highest order" The Late Great Mormon Drag Queen follows Brigham Morris Young as he steps outside the expectations placed on him and discovers a new identity through performing. Written and performed by Steven Morton, the show is both entertaining and surprisingly touching, especially as Young tries to find his own place while living in the shadow of his father and the expectations of being a good example for the other Mormon boys.

I actually got to see Steven Morton perform in Drag Me to the Opera last year, so I already knew I loved his voice, and he definitely did not disappoint this time around. His singing was one of my favourite parts of the show. The transitions were also incredibly smooth, making the story easy to follow as Morton moved between different moments and characters.

And as stated in the show, Jesus wore a dress, so why can't we? The Late Great Mormon Drag Queen is a fun and fascinating look at identity, expectations, and what happens when you decide to step outside the role you've been given.

See It Again

Steven did a wonderful job with this performance. His voice and flow as a performer made this a convincing and sincere work that was surprisingly heartwarming and wholesome. While I feared another story of religious trauma inflicted on a queer person, I instead found a story of self-acceptance and courage that left me deeply moved.

I was absolutely captivated through the entire performance! An amazing musical - great script, based on true story, amazing acting as a one man show, talented singing and stage presence, simple set and costume changes that really added to the story. I laughed and I cried. He did an excellent job changing gestures and voices for each character. He was a star acting as a memorable and lovable star.

Laughed So Hard I Cried

Well you don't HAVE to be a queer ExMo (ex Mormon) to enjoy this show but you will have fun and a bunch of extra laughs during this unique one person show!

All silliness aside, regardless of your background it will make you laugh.

A fascinating story and an incredible performance from Steven. I knew nothing about the subject matter but found myself invested due it’s wholesome (but not saccharine) storytelling. And the music! I still have songs stuck in my head days later. Don’t miss it!

Steven is such an amazing performer, and such a talented singer. There is a scene that I feel would be very corrective and healing for queer folks coming out to their parents, or who have religious trauma, it is so cathartic and there is a lot of love, it really warmed my heart and that was one of my fave moments. Very positive messages, strongly recommend!

See It Again

I've been telling others this is a must-see! I thought it was time that I write a review as well.

I've seen other shows from this artist in the past, so i was happy to give this one a try. At this point I've seen it twice! It was worth it.

Morton is captivating. This play is quite creative. It is well-researched and exquisitely written. The music & singing are superb. It's based on a true story and I enjoyed the character portrayals so much. I felt like I was right there with the characters, experiencing what they were experiencing.

The story has so many elements that work well together- it's heart-warming & encouraging too. Quality performance & enchanting experience! Highly recommended.

A true story about one of Brigham Young‘s many sons who had a career as a drag performer. That was enough, intrigue to get me in the door, but what really impressed me was the quality of singing and acting. Steven did a wonderful job giving a whole cast of characters unique personalities. The Original songs were fun and the tunes catchy!

Solid fringe show where you learn more about LDS history and culture. Enjoy some laughs while examining the challenges of living up to expectations and leading a meaningful life.
