The cast is tight, the music is fast, the blood is minimal but realistic, the vampires are legitimately alarming, the dads are learning, the kids are bratty and charming, the fight scenes are in slow motion, and the running gags are flawless. It runs a tad over the 60 minutes, but you're not checking your watch. You're on the edge of your seat. I've seen it twice now, and you should definitely come for the fun, but you'll stay for this show's big heart. Don't miss it.
A wonderful show about the messy reality of being a woman and managing your emotions and connections to the world around you while surrounded by the expectations of your community and your biological clock. The music, the blink-and-you'll-miss them sound and light cues, Ruth's magnetic stage presence: all these combine to create a show about empathy and a woman's struggle to be seen.
