Mind Blown

This was one of those rare shows that makes you laugh out loud, then stops you cold—and holds you there long enough to really feel something. It was storytelling infused with courage, music, dance, and moments so honest you’ll find yourself looking inward long after the lights come up.

What stood out most: the rawness. Yumi doesn’t hide behind jokes; she leans into vulnerability. She takes what could be ordinary—being told to stay small, reclaiming one’s voice—and turns it into something universal and powerful. The balance between humour and emotional weight is handled with such care that you end up feeling very moved by the performance.

Her stories of family were particularly resonant. I recognized echoes of my own upbringing: the tension between striving to meet expectations, to preserve harmony, to avoid disruption — and the deep desire to create space for my authentic self. Watching her reclaim her worth on stage felt like witnessing a mirror into my own chapters of life.

Bottom line: go see this. Colourful Yumiverse isn’t just a show—it’s something that lingers, challenges, and inspires.
