A delightful foray into the darkness of man’s heart (colonialism>cannibalism) and middle school theatre politics. One of my favourites, for sure! Excellent use of concept and the stage. 10/10 would watch Lara Lewis make out with her human wife stuffed platypus again.

Ubu Roi (and Ocean’s Twelve) eat your heart out

So clever, so funny; from profound thought centred around bananas to each punny apeism, it all made me belly laugh. Hal Rotman’s writing is masterful and so very silly. The space is expertly blocked so the actors give you a surround-sound experience in addition to their hilarious physical performances and delivery. Each ape was fully realized even if they weren’t thinking about it as seriously as Diane. 5/5 banana inhalants, would see again! 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌
