I'm a MASSIVE fan of the UK Taskmaster which also started as an Ediburgh Fringe show, so when I saw Edmonton was following suit I was STOKED! I saw it last year and I just saw it again for the first time this year, and I will be trying to see it at least once more this year! It takes an amazing amount of work to put this kind of show together, and I can see how much the crew and hosts have levelled up from last year, I am super impressed by this show! The contestants have to do silly tasks which are both pre-recorded and in front of the live audience, no two shows are ever the same and the TaskMaster does a great job at judging them in real time. Super fun!
I caught this again this year because I had such a BLAST watching it last year. The director does an excellent job of explaining how they create a full play manuscript using multiple AI softwares. The scripts are ridiculous and the improvisors are fantastic at acting out the first half of the play and then improvising the end. Rapid Fire operates with such integrity and consistency, I have never been disappointed. This is one of those shows that I will go see every year it is offered! Each show has a different set of improvisers so you'll always get something fresh. Love it!
I have come to look for Elanor O'Brien's name at Fringe every year because I always know that whatever she creates will be energetic, honest, funny and authentic. Plan V is my FAVOURITE of her shows to date! When she preached the POWER of the PUSSY I nearly jumped out of my seat and shouted "AMEN"! This show does away with shame about pleasure for the female body and it does it in a way that made me laugh and cry and get shivers up and down my spine. LOVED! Would see again! Bring your male partners, bring your girlfriends, bring your daughters (teens or older!) and get ready to worship at the altar of the Goddess!
