Splash Zone Survivor

I have now survived watching a man put a nail “deep into his face.” Normally I would look away but this time I didn’t! So this show made me grow I guess lol. Not a spoiler it’s right there in the picture. What a show! I LOVE The Improv Centre performers. This is the second show I’ve seen that mentioned Improv Centre performers (see: Duck Duck Moose) Their shows are always so fun.

In between sideshow acts they performed improv skits. The magician’s jar broke and they just went with it lol. This was a much needed pleasant break from some of the intensity at Fringe— especially when seeing so many shows in one day!! They make improv look so easy but at the same time so hard.

Make the leap and see it. It’s worth it.

See It Again

It made me feel something. And what an interesting concept. Feels like what a Fringe show should be. A little bit avant-grade, small and intimate, and often “pulls a fast one on you,” leading you down the comedic road and then hitting you with cold hard drama; then reversing that again to bring painful tears of laughter. It could use another 30 minutes to develop this with more subtlety but this is the fringe! Seems one hour is all they get!! Why the half star off: could start a little more positively with the comedian. That would be hard though, as his character is a bit like Jaques from Shakespeare’s As You Like It. If you see it just imagine he had a really happy life just before the play started! Acting across the board was fabulous with some standout moments for all three of them… With special note of one of the actress’ monologue moments (will say no more).

Mind Blown

Wow! How do I describe this crazy show?? Saw the 4pm show earlier today. Unlike any improv show I have ever seen. Most shows just ask for audience suggestions and jump into scenes. Today they brought an audience member on stage and made them the hero of the story… So much so that he refused the money!!! We couldn’t believe it (don’t worry it’s not a spoiler. You’ll have to see the show to see what I mean.) They create their characters right there, in stage, the at the beginning in front of the audience using audience suggestions but then build an emotional story around the hero in spite of the ridiculous premise. Absolutely floored. See It. Well worth it. A gem in disguise. Best show I’ve seen yet.
