Byte Your Tongue, created an performed by Kylie Thompson, is a spellbinding, thought-provoking dance performance that will leave you thinking about the show long after you've left the theatre. Kylie is a brilliant dancer, clearly with substantial technical training and artistic talent. In Byte Your Tongue, we see her interpret a range of sound bytes which are played repeatedly in different speeds, with Kylie's physical interpretation changing to match each variation. These sound bytes range from Emma Stone's Academy Award acceptance speech for Poor Things, to Queen Elizabeth's Coronation speech. I believe there's also a sound bye from Absolutely Fabulous, but that's just a guess! I'm super curious about Kylie's process in curating these sound bytes. In the end, how your interpret Kylie's presenation is entirely up to you, the audience member. Kylie has such an engaging presence and her dancing is so tremendous, I was compelled the entire time. This is an excellent example of a talented dancer/choreographer using their craft to create something highly artistic.
