I then went over to DanSpace to see Jon Bennett’s show American’t. There’s a woman who I follow on Instagram, Brooke Black, who is American, but her husband is Danish, and they along with their two young children got stuck in Denmark during the Covid lockdowns and they ended up staying there. Her account is all about an American acclimatizing to a much better life there, especially for their kids. Jon Bennett’s show is kind of the opposite. He is from Australia, but he has been a touring performer for the last eighteen years, and so, effectively, he actually didn’t have a home base when he got stuck in Portland, Oregon when everything shut down in March of 2020. The person there that he knew the best was a woman named Gina who he’d had a one night stand with the night before he was supposed to leave Oregon for his next show in California. They got to know each other much better after spending six weeks together in the first round of lockdowns. Click on the link to read more!
