Such a rollercoaster of a show, the very idea of a ‘villain’ in classic stories was completely flipped at least three times and I was absolutely fascinated by the way they left things. It’s a complicated examination of online relationships that doesn’t just lecture you on safety or stranger danger, there was always clarity in why each person did what they did and how even their best intentions can lead to the worst outcomes. Even when I didn’t agree with the characters I always felt the desperation and want that drove them. This is an incredible show, and absolutely one of my highlights this year.
