Laughed So Hard I Cried

Secrets Are Better Shared - Sydney Boisvert

There is something both exciting and slightly terrifying about handing your secrets over to a group of improvisers and seeing what they do with them. The Secret Secrets Club takes that idea and turns it into an unpredictable and genuinely fun night of comedy.

The premise is immersing as audience members anonymously write down their secrets and confessions, which the performers then use as inspiration for completely improvised scenes. The concept creates great audience engagement without making anyone feel like they are being put on the spot. Instead, the audience gets to watch their own contributions become part of the chaos unfolding onstage.

One of the biggest strengths of the show is the chemistry between the performers. They work well off one another and aren’t afraid to fully commit to wherever a scene takes them. Sam particularly stood out to me, bringing a strong energy and comedic presence to the scenes they were involved in. The cast keeps the energy high throughout, building off one another’s choices and consistently finding new opportunities for laughs.

The technical elements also add a surprising amount to the experience. A live pianist accompanies the performers, while the lighting and sound operator responds alongside them. Having the technical team essentially improvise with the actors makes the spontaneous scenes feel much more complete.

The Secret Secrets Club is a creative, interactive comedy that makes its audience part of the performance. If you’re willing to share a secret, you might just get to see it come hilariously to life.
