Don't miss this surreal SONG-FILLED LAUGH FEST!
My Fringe doesn’t start until I see a Paul Strickland show (and this year he has TWO).
Paul is an incredible story teller and I can always count on him for a good laugh.
Paul Strickland is a world-class talent. He consistently leaves me in awe of his writing, performance, craftsmanship, and sharp wit. Exactly what I need from a one person show.
Paul Strickland is a master storyteller and songweaver. His tales of growing up are wooly and charming and the show is full of surprises. Get carries away on the wings of this strange, funny and moving journey through song.
An expert story teller that reminds you why you loved bedtime stories as a child. And, if you’re more of a campfire story lover his show Ghost Stories will also delight you.
While we love to put shows in categories, you can hardly call this a storytelling show because it completely and utterly transcends the form. I started crying a few minutes in and didn't stop nearly the entire time. His stories and songs (whether "true" or not) will make you feel deep and un-nameable things. This show reminded me that I exist. What Paul manages to do in this hour is otherworldly and it left me speechless (I attempted to tell him how I was feeling afterwards and I don't know if I succeeded at all because none of the words I could get out felt big enough).
Beautiful magic realism folk tales mixed with gorgeous acoustic guitar. Beautiful imagery and allegorical wisdom that will wash over you. Paul Strickland invites you into a world of his own creation that is delightful, moving, and oddly familiar. Not to mention a surreal cameo that brings this particular and peculiar reality to life.
100% untruebador is 100% fabulous.! It is everything I could wish for in an hour of entertainment that goes by far too quickly . Paul Strickland is a master of the art of storytelling and musicianship . Engaging , ingenious, funny and heartfelt . Like all great stories and songs , this show is full of beautiful observations about the human experience delivered with such skill that you are hanging on every word, every note . You will leave this show with a big smile, slightly deeper laughter lines on your face and a chest full of feel goods ! I 100% recommend this for all !
Surreal and Self-Introspective
It’s not every day you meet someone from a town with no name, but 100% UnTrueBador is your chance to truly immerse yourself in the unreal. Written by Paul Strickland, this musical comedy places the audience into a surreal world of wool and soup, listening as themselves as Strickland tells tales of his elusive home town. Through his fantastic vocals and intensely playful guitar, you are guided step by step, story after story, as the unintelligible world of 100% UnTrueBador is translated and brought into your reality. Despite all of its self-contained whimsy, Strickland’s creation ultimately culminates into themes completely grounded in the strife of reality. Community, self expression, and grief all play major roles in the show’s various fables and songs, ideas that can then be applied to nearly anyone’s life. Alongside the fantastic comedy, this show is a fantastic watch for anyone who loves knowing the unknowable and understanding that which was not meant to be understood, so if that sounds like a good time, sign yourself up for 100% UnTrueBador.
