“A Lesbian in a Bear Store” - Witchy Wonderful By: Krissy Berkholtz

A show that’s as snuggly and vulnerable as a Beany Baby. “A Lesbian in a Bear Store” is a one woman ecstatic performance full of hilarious jokes, clever quips and heart warming stories that fulfill an audience’s hearts and prove that community is a powerful tool to confirm the love and acceptance that is needed in this modern day society. Not only a brave testimony from the writer and actor of “A Lesbian in a Bear Store”; Willow Rosenberg offers a sanctuary, complimented with her crowd interaction work and open personality. “Lesbian in a Bear Store” teleports you to a room from the late 90’s complimented by the smart details scattered across the room. Boxes signed with “Pronouns” and “Gender identity” provides a well planted Easter eggs that add so much honest flair to the overall performance. The warm lighting shifts between vibrant colours, to dimmer pastels adds an element of us travelling with the performer as the show goes on, and the deeper we get into her mind. “A Lesbian in a Bear Store” is a purely human show full of love and magic that explores to answer the questions “what makes us human? What makes us ourselves?”. “A Lesbian in a Bear Store” runs from August 18th-24th.

Ten-tickles My Fancy

An endearing performance with nostalgic reflections internet culture, coming out, Tik Tok diagnosis via algorithms, and some witchy astrology. The audience chuckled along for remembrances of the awkwardness of coming of age hit, some hitting very close to home! A wholesome semi-autobiographical show.

Ten-tickles My Fancy

A winding adhd influenced storytelling of the performers experiences growing up, with some tangential side conversations with a little audience participation. Nerves were apparent to start but she settled into her story and got more comfortable as it went. A few more shows (at a later time of day) and I expect there will be more polish. If you enjoy a coming out story with some humor and some raw revealing of self, check it out. It always feels good to support artists revealing themselves.

Sweet, gentle, sensitive, poetic, and mystical Willow waltzing through life. navigating neurodivergency and being true to herself. I shed a tear at the last poem.

I think you'd be really into this show if any of the following topics interest you:

queer awakenings adhd weird family dynamics beanie babies horoscopes/astrology yonic paintings of flowers a little bit of very simple audience participation, if you're sitting near the front that affects the progression of the story in some minor ways jewishness and witchiness at the same time 2010s tumblr culture probably other things I'm forgetting honestly, so also shows that are about a lot of things and personal experiences.

I enjoyed it! A lot of aspects of it reflected my own life. But the parts that didn't were also interesting, often fun, and very funny. I would probably even see it again to see if the way it's told changes based on some audience choices.
