Wow! The puppetry was incredible — I've never seen anything like it before!
It was easy for me to relate to the main character and her journey of growing up. Get ready for a raw and honest story!
I don't know how to describe it without spoiling it, but this is one of the shows this year that if you don't see it, YOU"RE MISSING OUT!
Another amazing production from Cosmic Theatre Co. I was blown away, they are clearly proving themselves to be one of the best productions of the fringe year to year. Their puppet creations and the skills they use to bring them to life are incredible. You’re immediately sucked in to their world and their immersive story. An absolute must see, and I’d definitely see this show again.

WOW. Just wow. That is all I can say. A moving mix of puppetry, dance, clown, mask and more... that often holds you between laughter and tears because of its theatricality and its honesty. A must-see.
There are so many reasons why you should see this show. Thematically - profound and funny, with razor-sharp commentary and increasingly layered depth. Absurdity reflecting reality in a perfectly fringe-y mirror. Performances - this ensemble are so tight. If you saw last year's "It's not the End of the World" you will be thrilled to see the return of this all-female ensemble. Each actor does a spectacular job of shining in their moments and supporting each other when not taking the lead. Mask/Puppetry - the exceptional skill displayed throughout the show is world-class. I've never seen a two-handed puppet so beautifully executed in "The Boy", worth the price of admission alone. The story - Painfully relatable and accurate. The ending was surprisingly emotional, very understated and yet completely profound. I don't want to spoil anything but happy to chat about it once you've seen the show 😉 This playwright and ensemble are really the "ones to watch" when it comes to the Vancouver alternative theatre scene. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
Absolutely, unbelievably brilliant.
A collection of those tiny, half-forgotten moments of growing up that almost every woman will recognize. Hilarious, tender, nostalgic, and painfully real.
And I loved where it leaves us. I won’t say anything about the ending — it’s one of those things you really have to experience for yourself.
Transported me back to my childhood bedroom and my one truly safe space. The puppets, the dancing, the dialogue...I was crying and laughing in the same breath. Visually stunning.
See it again? I did. Even better the second go round. Unreal cast. Poingnant and heartfelt...subtle and not so subtle.
A talented, all femme cast, examines a young girl from childhood to sex, with great puppetry and the lead actress in a mask that seems to enhance her discomfort in her situations. A lot of violence which I think symbolizes the micro and more aggressions that women face on a daily basis. Moving and well done.
This show is hands down the best in Fringe! It utilizes a really great combination of puppet/mask/drama/comedy to tell a girl's coming of age story.
Definitely see this play, and then see it again!
Although I was a bit confused at the ending, the show had me mesmerized and laughing out loud. I feel for those Barbie dolls!

What a gorgeous piece of theatre. Funny, tender, provocative. Universally relatable and yet every performance is so specific (and so impressive!) I laughed, I cried - see this show!
Beautiful magnificent theatre. Leapt to my feet at the end of the show. Wonderfully performed. Brilliant and stunning artistic choices. Breathtakingly immersive. Will be screaming off every rooftop for people to see this show.

This show is at turns beautiful, challenging and hilarious. Note, I am mildly biased, as I was the tech for a show this company did at Fringe a few years ago, and I was so delighted to see how much they've developed. This show is really wonderful and you should absolutely see it.
I loved this show so much, it captured so much of girlhood and the pain of having to fit in with societal rules you never decided upon. Truly what the fringe is all about - experimental in format but driven by so much heart. GO SEE IT ❤️
From a theatre perspective it was brilliant. Well performed and I loved the combination of puppets, mime and other theatre elements. The script was hilariously and painfully relatable as a woman who has grown through all those phases of life. Well performed and you could feel the chemistry among the cast. An excellent example why I am a huge fan of fringe festivals everywhere.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a hilarious, relatable, and surprisingly heartfelt play! 😂 The whole story of a girl growing up and all the wonderfully awkward moments that come with it was SO well done. From the “what is happening to my body?!” moments to the full-blown hormonal chaos, this play somehow managed to make puberty both hilarious and painfully relatable. And yes… there was definitely a full bush situation. 😂🌳 I loved how the play tackled growing up with humour while still showing the confusion, embarrassment, insecurity, and ultimately the confidence that comes with learning to accept yourself. It had me laughing, cringing, remembering things I probably wanted to forget, and thinking, “Yep… been there.” 😂 Such a fun, honest, and entertaining production. A great reminder that growing up is awkward for literally everyone — we just survive it and eventually learn to laugh about it. 10/10 would recommend! ❤️
