the FUNNIEST show I’ve ever seen, I’ll admit I didn’t know what to expect going into it especially with it being a relaxed performance, but I genuinely had the BEST time.
There were things I really appreciated about this show including the great vibes from the audience supporting it and the characters themselves. Lots of potential, but for me, the storyline meandered a bit too much in places (shower). Still, lots to look forward to in this one and I applaud the actor's skills and comedic effect of some parts.
Jeff and Grungled KNOW FRILLS is a clownish children’s-cartoon-esque show about two gender non-specific best friends exploring the bounds of masculinity. Yeah, it’s very fun.
The show's props and set are bright and animated, drawing attention before the action even begins. The two actors wear colourful clothes and bold painted on makeup making them pop off the stage. The performers' voices were animated and brought a lovely sense of goofiness to the two protagonists. The premise of the story leads to thoughtful questions that are executed in a silly way without disguising their importance.
Sign language interpreters translated the entire show so that all audience members could follow along. The show employed the use of audience interaction to help Jeff and Grungled define masculinity which was highly amusing. Their use of sound was creative and added to the animated atmosphere. The actors used the entire space to help tell their story which was hilarious and clever.
Jeff and Grungled KNOW FRILLS is a lighthearted and joyful piece of theatre.

Stagecraft! Whimsy! Plenty of very funny and surprising bits and gags. I’m a lover of clowns so this was right up my alley. Plenty of simple but effective props which I loved. As much as a sumptuous set is wonderful to look at, the limitations of a sparser setup add so much to the creativity of a production. I was actually a bit touched at the end, when the show turned more earnest. The cost of masculinity is the loss of meaningful relationships. Some moments felt a bit long, and some gags repetitive if you’re not a big fan of clowning. The show also ended 10 minutes early which is always nice when you have a full schedule.
