My Journey Back to ChihSang

One man. Lots of bubbles. A visually playful solo show where storytelling meets live bubble artistry. From Trinidad to North America, one man loses --- and fights to reclaim --- his joy. Funny, heartfelt, and unexpectedly moving. Content note: Touches on racism, identity, and burnout --- handled with humour and heart.

Mind Blown

My Journey Back to ChihSang is a truly unforgettable performance. ChihSang's storytelling is heartfelt, courageous, and deeply authentic, taking the audience through moments of joy, loss, resilience, and hope. His remarkable bubble artistry is far more than visual entertainment—it beautifully reinforces the story and reminds us of the wonder we often lose as adults. I laughed, reflected, and was genuinely moved. This is far more than a bubble show; it is an inspiring celebration of the human spirit and the importance of hope, imagination, and connection. I left the theatre with a full heart and highly recommend this remarkable Fringe production.

ChihSang’s journey is a must-see: a touching, funny and entertaining one! He takes us with him as he travels back to his roots in Trinidad and through his migrations to the US and Canada, unafraid to show his vulnerability as he struggles to find his authentic identity amid pressures to conform and fit in. Humour and playfulness (and yes, bubbles!) add a light touch to his story, even as it makes us shed a tear or two of empathy. [Some technical issues occurred during the performance (the premiere!), glitches I am sure have been worked out since. As there was no mic, a couple of lines were inaudible, indicating that the performer needs to project his voice a bit more.] Whatever your background, you will surely relate to ChihSang’s journey back to joy and wonder, a deeply human one.

This play is a heartfelt journey on Chihsang's experience navigating the complexities of youth, crossectionality, immigration, and humanity in general using humor, storytelling and bubbles! I highly recommend taking this journey with him and learning more about this thoughtful, creative human and how the themes can translate to life as an adult in the present. Keep finding, creating and sharing joy, Chihsang!

Great show that was relatable on many levels. Strong story telling that takes you on a journey of conformity and depersonalization which crescendos into the joy of finding and loving yourself. In today's age of social media and the constant feeling of falling behind, with the only way to catch up is putting your needs aside and work endlessly, this event is a breath of fresh air and a strong reminder for many that there is much more to life than a paycheck and fitting in.

I didn’t really know what to expect going into My Journey Back to Chih Sang, but I was pleasantly surprised. It felt incredibly vulnerable and honest. I related to a lot of what he talked about, especially the pressure to keep pushing forward and the feeling of losing yourself along the way. The storytelling was compelling and moving, and the bubbles added a really unique and memorable touch. It left me reflecting on my own priorities long after the show ended. I’d definitely recommend it!

A well-paced one-person show that tackles some meaningful themes without feeling too heavy. The use of props and costume changes kept things engaging, and it had a nice mix of humour and heartfelt moments. An enjoyable performance that's worth checking out.

My Journey Back to ChihSang was the only show I saw at the Toronto Fringe, and I'm so glad I chose it. I went in not knowing what to expect and came out completely charmed. It was funny, heartfelt, and moving, with a great mix of storytelling, humour, and incredible bubble artistry. What really stood out was how relatable it felt. Even though it's based on ChihSang's personal journey, the themes of losing yourself, finding your way back, and reconnecting with what brings you joy are something most people can relate to. I laughed, cried, reflected, and left with a big smile. I highly recommend it. It's creative, uplifting, and one of those shows that stays with you long after it's ends.

If you’re looking for a show that will make you laugh, reflect, and leave with a smile, My Journey Back to ChihSang is one you shouldn’t miss.

The storytelling is heartfelt, genuine, and surprisingly relatable. It balances humor with deeper moments about life, identity, and finding your way, without ever feeling heavy. The performance draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you engaged until the end.

What impressed me most was how personal the story felt while still connecting with everyone in the audience. There were plenty of laughs, touching moments, and even a few bubbles along the way;) You can tell a lot of passion and authenticity went into creating this show. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your list. It’s funny, inspiring, and memorable.

really great story, from a wonderful perspective. had some issues with technology, the lighting was too low for much of it and he should not wear hats that cover his face so much, push them back. music was great. it was heartfelt and really well done. thank you for spreading love!! must see.
