Funniest thing I've seen all Fringe! The costume changes are insane, the script keeps everyone hopping, the songs are well done and the props are hysterical. loved it.

A whimsical review of musical theater through the performances of Gilbert and Sullivan. Throughly enjoyed the performances by the theater troupe (and pianist) as they gave it all for their audiences and themselves. Loved it I would watch it again!

Beautiful voices and all my favorites from G&S. Kim was especially elite and I could have sat for another two hours to hear her delightful voice and charisma. Three cheers and one cheer more for this production!

went to the late show and loved it! Knew nothing about Gilbert and Sullivan (never heard of them) but it didn't matter. This made me laugh. That's what matters to me. Singing was great, acting and story were just a whole lotta fun. They should be charging way more for this - one of the better shows I've seen so far! Just go see this - you won't regret it.

If you are a G&S/Rosgers & Hammerstein lover you’ll enjoy this show.

It’s a classic community theatre production about a community theatre troupe touring small town Alberta. It’s a fun hour featuring many of the classics.

The cast has great voices and I was humming Modern Major General for the rest of the evening.

My face hurt from smiling and laughing throughout the show. Everyone was in good voice and totally immersed in their respective role. The choreography was well done in a small space. This show is chock-a-block full of memorable show tunes, so whether you are a die hard fan like me or someone who is new to light opera, this show is for you!

I LOVE Gilbert and Sullivan which is why I ended up here. I was overjoyed with the acting, singing, plot and the non G&S songs that made the cut - chitty chitty! Wow!

The entire cast, especially the pianist, is exceptionally talented and clearly well trained vocalists. Hats off to Kim Breitkreutz and Ruth Kult whose vocals were the best I’ve ever heard at the fringe. Great show for all and a MUST SEE for any G and S fans.

I went to see Perils Of Penzance and was so engaged and so invested that even though I had to 'go' midway through, I held it because I didn't want to miss a moment. REALLY entertaining! Such fun

I came to this show as a lover of "modern" musicals, and a lot of this went over my head. I appreciate the energy and vocal chops of this cast, but think it'd be better suited to those who know and love the Gilbert and Sullivan catalogue more.

First standing O (more would have stood if time had permitted) of my Fringe-going experience so far! Very fun show. highly recommend. And no, you don't need to know any Gilbert & Sullivan to enjoy this one. Just go!

The Perils of Penzance is not just an ode to the greats of classic musical musical theatre, but a hilarious new story, full of witty characters, drama, and lots of absurdity! The show follows a struggling drama troupe of 5 (no, 6!) people trying their hardest to put on productions of Gilbert & Sullivan shows. Along the way they're slowed down by constant fighting within the cast, romantic tension, and utter confusion that leaves them wondering what future the troupe has. All of the performers have amazing voices and they blend so well as an ensemble while each shining when they take the spotlight. This show is worth seeing for just the musical performances alone, but on top of that is the cast of charming and goofy characters that take you through the set of songs. Each of the over-the-top characters play off each other brilliantly, with their ridiculous hijinks filling the audience with laughter. This is a great show for anyone who's a fan of Gilbert & Sullivan, Rodgers & Hammerstein or any classic musical theatre, all packaged together with a witty show full of charming characters.

I wanted to like this more. The cast boasts a lot of vocal talent and I like Gilbert and Sullivan. The songs in the show are very well done (though my favourite wasn't a G&S one). But I found the set had some limitations for separating the play from the plays within and the scenes between the musical numbers weren't strong enough to build a compelling story. I would recommend to any musical fans who want the songs and don't need much from the narrative.

I can’t recall the last time I smiled so much watching a show that my face hurt by the final curtain but boy howdy did this show ever bring a smile to my face and keep it there throughout! Truly charming and funny cast, script, and songs. You can tell these folks love what they do and that heart shines through in every word, every note, and every step. It’s a good time all around!

Loved it! Go see it. I had many times where I laughed out loud and was very impressed by the choreography!

I have seen this production now several times! Each time it just gets better…I even caught a few nuances I missed the first time! Well worth a second look…or more! The performers are all (6) immensely talented, energetic and totally dedicated to their art!❣️ Congrats on producing another great show my friends!

Not knowing what to expect, I figured for twelve bucks I'd give it a shot. Also, I did know some Gilbert & Sullivan shows so I thought, why not. I liked it! Hey Mikey, I liked it!! Too bad that they didn't do any Mikado but excited about all the Rodgers and Hammerstein they managed to include. Totally unexpected! Very enjoyable. I would have paid more for this. And yes, I can easily say that fringe goers should put this one on their docket.

Perils of Penzance is on my Fringe list! A very clever weave of favourite Gilbert & Sullivan with a few old musical theatre songs that you definitely won't see coming. I saw this show in Fort Saskatchewan last year and can't wait to see it again! Exactly as billed "Is this much laughter even legal?" So fun - don't miss it.

I'm a planner. I go through the Fringe program from cover to cover and then pick my shows. This one had a great poster and let's face it, a really good time that fit my meticulous schedule (and a great price at only $12). It was good! I wasn't sure about it when I chose it since I didn't know anyone in it or that much about it but I was much satisfied with this choice. I laughed. I sang! Yes, me!! And I enjoyed. Put this one in your schedule for sure. You won't be sorry.

I went to opening night of Perils Of Penzance. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. It was so fun and funny! I thought it would just be a ton of Gilbert & Sullivan, which would have been fine with me, but it was that and a LOT more. They cleverly wove in a bunch of "old" musical theatre songs and references to shows that I did not see coming. The story though is the hook for me. The 5 (no 6! - and you have to go to find out why I need to say 6!) actors are a touring company that has clearly seen better times. Some are aging and have seen a lot of tours in their time. But one newbie comes in and we start to see this company through her eyes. But her eyes are kinda kooky and so the laughs begin. I totally enjoyed this and did not see the ending coming even though I know some Gilbert & Sullivan shows. It was a riot from beginning to end and I highly recommend it to any age group! Go laugh your ass off - I will try to see this one again!
