Popurrí
I hope this show comes back and perhaps get to do it in Waterfront Theatre, hard to see some of the movement playing on the floor wrt audience sightlines. And yes it was still so good! I don't know how to describe it ... the puppet autopsie was a beautiful form of mask work and storytelling, with clever humour and clownery beats. It was just whismical watching the opera clowns sing in plastic. I loved that it just explored human things in charming and yet open ways for interperation. My jaw was consistantly open, just in aw and I felt all my laughs come out with genuine joy. So talented!
The costumes and the magical lights - the show invited me to dream.
The singing of the whole crew was incredible good!
The people of Plastik Theatriks gave free rein to their creativity, they took me out of my comfort zone.
Loved it! I loved the bizarre and absurd nature of the performance and characters that the actors created. The highly skilled use of physicality, mask work and puppetry created striking visuals and wove short, individual stories that bounced between comedic, beautiful and occasionally horrific. I love getting to explore the darker side of mask work and puppetry and Popurri give the audience a taste of that.
Excellent performances!!! Magical and whimsical. Enjoyed every moment of this show. ✨
I am SO thankful I got a personal recommendation for this show because I don't think I would ever have picked it out of the guide but I think this is the best thing I've ever seen at the Fringe. So hard to describe... Is it absurdist comedy, modern dance or what? What it is for sure is hilarious and also touching and charming. The 4 performers are all amazing, full of energy and they do some amazing transformations.
To make plastic more than pollution and an eyesore takes true skill. It was a pleasure to watch garbage become poetic and dreamy.

This show is so many things at once, beautiful, breathtaking, bizarre, silly, funny. The vignettes highlighted talents from singing opera to movement and even just some just gorgeous visuals that brought me so much joy. As a Latina, I also loved some of the small nods to Latinx culture.
This is a very fringe show, in the best way possible. This cast is very talented and is also in other productions in the fest. GO SEE POPURRÍ
I had the opportunity to see Popurrí on opening night, and I was completely engaged from beginning to end. There were so many elements that stood out to me, but here are a few thoughts that might convince you to grab a ticket and experience it for yourself.
The Design
Without giving away any of the surprises, the variety and creativity within the costumes and props were beautifully executed. A production like this challenges its designers to think outside the box—to find creative ways to source, reuse, and transform materials—and that resourcefulness was one of the show's greatest visual strengths.
The lighting was another standout. Its use in representing the soul was not only visually striking, but also became an important part of the storytelling. And the puppets? Easily one of my highlights of the production. They were incredibly well crafted and added such a unique theatrical element to the show.
The Chemistry
The cast had fantastic chemistry. It was clear that they were genuinely having fun together onstage, and that energy was infectious. There was a wonderful sense of support between the performers, and you could see how much they were feeding off one another throughout the show.
The Surprises
As I mentioned, I don't want to spoil anything—but there are plenty of surprises along the way. Popurrí does a great job of keeping you curious about what might come next, so I'd recommend going in knowing as little as possible.
The Opera Voices
The opera voices were a particular treat. While they were often used for comedic effect, the performers behind them have genuinely beautiful voices. The contrast between the comedy and the quality of the singing made these moments even more enjoyable.
A huge thank you to the cast and creative team behind Popurrí for such a fun and inventive night of theatre. If you're looking for something that will surprise you, make you laugh, and give you plenty to appreciate from a theatrical design and performance perspective, I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
And yes… I'll be celebrating Moth Mondays from now on.
Bizarre, beautiful, hilarious, emotive... Popurri takes you through this amazing journey with charismatic characters, amazing puppets, talented vocal performances and extremly funny and surreal situations. I can't recommend this enough!
It was my first fringe show and it only makes me wanna see more. Incredible show, incredible performances. Very interesting concept, with lots of different movements and mind blowing visuals/vocals. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s a perfect show for those who have a broken sense of humour 😂 highly recommend.
Not at all unlike one of those wonderfully strange art films with no clear heads or tails one would find at a multimedia room at a modern/contemporary art museum.
Not normally a fan of vignettes, but despite the very loose plot, they managed to tie the vignettes together.
Visually stunning, tight pacing and so much to talk about! Definitely the most unique show of this run!
Stellar performances and singing. Puppetry is great. And the vignettes are not afraid to “go there”. Very funny. RECOMMEND
Imagine you're floating down a lazy river, whose banks disclose scene after scene, some comic, some serious. You are Alice, and the river is in Wonderland, except that the characters parody opera rather than Victorian poetry. For the best experience, let yourself drift, as in a dream, and go early to get a seat in the front row. The stage in the Arts Umbrella Theatre isn't raised, so rows further back will miss some scenes played close to the ground.
Genuinely a nearly impossible experience to describe, but one that I’m sure I won’t forget. A series of vignettes that were often times gut bustingly funny, full of incredible eccentric and creative characters, with a small number of scenes that were genuinely moving and emotional. You won’t see anything else like it, and highly recommend seeing it if you can. A beautiful display of creativity and skill by everyone involved!
Fringy, weird and different. Opera, puppets, costume changes , no costumes, humor, props almost no dialogue, and audience participation. Don’t miss it.
