Soul Maker

For anyone who's found it hard to say goodbye. A moving, bittersweet (and at times darkly humorous) story of a person who won't let go of the past, told through an immigrant lens.

A beautiful immersive set, highly skilled actors, and a story that expertly weaves together Southeast Asian culture, humour, profound spiritual themes, intense emotion, and a lighthearted hope amidst grief — absolutely fantastic!!

The atmosphere was magical. I felt like I was watching an animated film that had been brought to life. The lighting and sound design made me feel very well-immersed in the world of the piece, and the commitment and skill of the performers was wonderful to witness. The way that this piece explores grief and death tugged at my heart. I could feel the weight of it all, while still being held by the intimate setting that we were in.

A hopeful, tender and lighthearted take on a sad journey.

It may be early to say this, but Soul Maker is my Fringe ‘26 ultimate favorite. The atmosphere, the acting, the story, were all beautifully executed.

As soon as you enter the theatre the vibe is immediately established. You can experience the performance from the traditional seating or onstage with the gorgeous representational set (which also serves as a ‘theatre in the round’).

The lighting design by Christian Ching was a particular favorite of mine. It served to cement the magical realism elements of this story and seamlessly aid in the atmosphere of Flo’s emotional journey.

Every aspect of this production blew me away. You cannot let this year’s fest go by without seeing this show.
