Tango After Midnight

Winner of the Toronto Fringe Patrons’ Pick and Dance Award, PointeTango ignites the stage with their striking fusion of pointe shoes and stilettos. This electrifying new production blends Argentine tango with classical ballet, weaving in cinematic projections filmed in Buenos Aires. As night falls, a new dance emerges.

See It Again

Hafsa Hoosaney's NNNNN (!!) review of Tango After Midnight from NEXT Magazine.

Editor's Note: I was originally going to select the "Mind Blown" reaction, but then Hoosaney texted me saying that she literally did "See It Again" (and her second viewing wasn't comp'd, so that's saying something)!

This was yet another awe-inspiring performance by Alex and Erin. Their technical and creative skills showcase an artistic style unparalleled by other dance troupes. I appreciate how they integrate ballet and tango, focusing on dance while also displaying artful athleticism, and incorporating multi-media visuals. Their stories are always full of passion. I’ve been faithfully following Pointe Tango for 5 years and look forward to future performances by Alex and Erin.

I came to see this gorgeous performance with some friends and we couldn’t stop talking about it. The dancing is exquisite and well worth all the applause from an audience that was so thrilled by it. I loved the use of film and the way the show kept slipping from the screen to the state. The only problem is the projection- it is impossible to read the words on the screen and I would have liked to see the film much more clearly.

this was exquisitiely beautiful! very creative and inventive use of music and dance and screen. the screen was not the correct kind and the actors were frustrated. the scrim shoudl have been opaque. actors appologized but not really there fault.... tarragon up your game! get a grant and buy the right equipmewnt- you had one for several plays this past season that worked great.

Tango after dark was so beautiful. I was lucky enough to watch Alex and Erin perform a few years ago when they were at the Toronto fringe and fell in love with them. When I learned they had returned, I made sure to see them and boy, I wasn't disappointed. I loved, loved, loved every second of the show. My friend and I are planning to see it again. I would highly recommend seeing this show.
