The Human Cat Experience

4000 years in the future. Humans are the size of cats and cats are the size of humans. 2 cats high on catnip make an emergency trip to Catsco. Serial killer sex dolls, rotisserie chicken burlesque, a parody of a Canadian log-driving classic. Cheech and Chong, but with cats. Absurd! 90% clown-free. And did we mention CATS?!

Laughed So Hard I Cried

Genuinely almost falling out of my seat laughing so hard, the acting was hilarious the script was insane but in the best way and so so so insanely funny. The set made out of cardboard was so cool, the puppetry was also cool and funny. Burlesque was so good, and also tasteful I think. I really enjoyed the audience interaction, I totally recommend it !!

On my way to the venue, I was worried that I had forgotten to take my ADHD medication that morning and wouldn’t be able to focus properly on the performance. With what felt like dopamine mainlined to my heart, I quickly learned that this wasn’t going to be a problem at The Human Cat Experience.

This cartoonish show is purr-fectly stupid: they successfully combine the chromatic vibes of Adventure Time with the gritty chaos of Ren & Stimpy (and just a dash of Cheech & Chong). These slacker kitties take a wonderfully weird lo-fi adventure to “Cat-sco” only to get sidetracked by outside forces - like water, or even the odd interdimensional being.

The show is staged using slapdash cardboard props; and though many of their them fell apart and failed in real time, this was no roadblock for the clownishly unflappable duo. Despite their shitty-on-purpose aesthetic, they manage to fly through their story by the seat of their pants and by trusting their unique brand of manic magic.

In the eyes of the cats, mistakes are not a problem, but rather: an opportunity. I think we can all learn a little something from their unflappability. The preshow announcement gives the audience permission to make noise, meow in response to their prompts and relax into your own inner cat experience.

So grab one of their laser pointers, turn off your brain, take in an eyeful of cat butt and enjoy this veritable scratching post for playful adults.

See It Again

Needs to have some finessing. However, I enjoyed it. It's absurd and that's what I loved about it. Male burlesque what's better than that. CATS and Male Burlesque that is what is better. LAZER POINTERS say no more. I will happily sit in the front row and have the actors chase the "RED DOTS". NOT FOR KIDS.

Not My Cup of Tea

While the concept of the show sounds great for cat lovers in reality the show hasn't fully realized what they are trying to relay to the audience further confusing things by stripping down to chaotic... Burlesque?... However, there were entertaining moments sprinkled throughout the show often coming from the improvised recovery from on stage mishaps.

The Human Cat Experience was a wonderfully wacky production that leaned fully into its creativity and humor. The show’s standout feature was its use of props. Almost everything was made out of cardboard, from the smallest details to the biggest set pieces. This choice gave the performance a playful, handmade charm while also showcasing just how imaginative and resourceful the production team was. The performance wasn’t just something to watch, it pulled the audience in with interactive moments that added to the fun and unpredictability of the show. Between the quirky characters, the offbeat comedy, and the clever staging, the entire piece felt fresh and inventive. It struck a perfect balance of being funny, absurd, and surprisingly clever, making it an unforgettable

Mind Blown

A wacky show. Ira Cooper puts on a spirited performance. However, I was less excited with Hilary Fillier's near constant screaming. Some nice ad libs when stuff went haywire on stage. A lot of the action was difficult to see from the back rows. Many audience members enjoyed seeing the cast in revealing lingerie.
