Amazing! Of all of the shows at this year’s Fringe this one had the most hype. The entire run sold out before the Fringe even started (before I could buy tickets!) so I was very relieved when it got (an obviously deserved) holdover. This one-man show is wonderfully written, sharp, funny, and heartfelt. It was a story of life and culture. And yes, there was butter chicken. A triumph!

Mind Blown

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!! This is the best show at the Fringe this year!!! This large cast was insanely talented!!! The vocal performances, the choreography, the costumes!! Especially the RoboCop costume! I absolutely LOVED the dance sequences! Jason was a huge standout with his vocal range and dancing. I can’t say enough about how well done this musical was!! I LOVED IT!!!

Part Tenacious D, part Ninja Sex Party, all DnD rock show! This three piece band tells the story of a party on a journey where they fight dragons, make a deal with a necromancer, you know, the usual. Very fun but almost all songs so you need to be prepared to follow the story that way.

Laughed So Hard I Cried

I literally laughed so hard that I cried! I think that this might have been the best GORDON’S that I’ve ever seen! The guys were on fire doing their version of a play called MURDER PLOT. I found Ron Pederson especially hilarious with his multitude of accents. Amazing, high level improv!

Seeing Kevin and Arlen do Scratch is a Fringe improv must each year!! Their formula is predictable in the best way. It’s always ridiculously crass and you know that you’ll get a montage and that one character with a half closed eye and tented fingers. In the shower I saw they mashed together the (new) Frankenstein movie with Face Off. Connor McDavid (died immediately) was there along with Leon Draisaitl (very heavy German accent). They lost track of the characters a little bit (there were so many!) but ultimately I laughed so hard that it hurt!

Ten-tickles My Fancy

This was wild! I found it a bit difficult to follow at times but overall I loved this hilarious musical about Hermy the sailor and Calypso the mermaid. It went some pretty weird places but in a delightful way! I loved the fish-headed band. The mermaid in the tub was super well-done too!

A very sweet little show that is family friendly and touches on the complicated feelings of grief. Cute and funny, the actor did a great job even when the accompanying projection stopped working for a small portion of the show. Great audience participation, fun songs, and heartfelt.

I make sure to see whatever Jake and Jason are in because it’s always amazing! This time they were romance authors at a convention and as always, hilarity ensued. Everyone did such a great job of staying in their characters and delivering sharply written lines. The costumes were perfect. Bravo!

Soooo Fringe!!! This show is what would happen if Salad Fingers and Nine Inch Nails had a baby who wrote a Fringe play. I’ve seen this group’s previous work and am always weirded out on the best way. If you’re in the mood for something that only Fringe can give you, it’s this.

What a celebration of women!! This burlesque show featured various vignettes and there was comedy, beautiful costumes, and gorgeous choreography. My favourite part is the glorious body positivity, showcasing stunning women’s bodies of all sizes. Tons of fun! Highly recommend!
