An Electrified Bard's Tale

Part Tenacious D, part Ninja Sex Party, all DnD rock show! This three piece band tells the story of a party on a journey where they fight dragons, make a deal with a necromancer, you know, the usual. Very fun but almost all songs so you need to be prepared to follow the story that way.

From a tale that started in a tavern, it takes twists and turns to deliver a show that any adventurer would proudly be a part of! So many laughs and moments all the way through this journey of DnD bought to life with amazing songwriting to carry on the story. A DnD rock opera!

​As a DnD fan, this show was easily one of my favourites this year. The humor was spot-on and the original songs were super catchy and played with good energy. It's just a genuinely funny show that captures the adventure of the game, and the fun and uncertainties that comes with it.

What an incredibly fun and energetic D&D fantasy rock adventure! The cast brought great energy to the stage, and the combination of fantasy, storytelling, and live rock music made for a unique experience. The music was really good, although some of the songs were difficult to hear clearly at times due to the audio. Deadbeat absolutely stole the show and was awesome! Overall, a fun and entertaining adventure for anyone who enjoys D&D, rock music, and a little bit of theatrical chaos.

An Electrifying Bard's Tale is pretty much everything you'd want to see in a Fringe show. Incredible live music, vocals, and hilariously outlandish performances inspired by a fierce love for fantasy and D&D.

The venue offered itself wonderfully to the tale, though I wonder how it can expand if given more space and just a touch more dialogue. The songs were amazing, and I sincerely hope they put out a cast album (ambitious hope on my part).

I ABSOLUTELY recommend this show if you're even a little bit nerdy, love quirky rock music, and looking to laugh. A lot.

An epic journey of dragons and snakes and the undead, An Electrified Bard’s Tale was witty and ridiculous, while simultaneously highlighting what true leadership means.

It followed three unlikely companions through their misadventures on a quest for gold, inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. Throughout the performance, each character had distinct personalities, motives, and backstories. The chemistry between the characters was undeniable as the power of friendship and trust in each other drove the plot forward. The character dynamics seemed natural and comfortable. As the show progressed, each character learned about the importance of putting the group ahead of themselves.

Additionally, the sound effects and dramatic lighting kept the audience engaged at all times during the show. They built suspense, demonstrated shifts in scenes, and indicated the passage of time. The live music played by the performers also added incredible depth and excitement to the scenes, with the music often acting as hilarious interruptions. The vocals and lead guitar were particularly outstanding, and along with the clever lyrics, created songs that were stuck in the audience’s minds long after the quest had concluded.

Although at times the storyline was hard to follow, each performer’s commitment to their character, as well as the costumes and props which instantly created a setting for the audience to follow, kept the audience grounded in each setting.

It was a passionate and exhilarating performance that combined stellar comedic timing with catchy rock tunes, offered a compelling portrayal of effective leadership, and left the audience longing for more.

I went to this show on a whim, knowing absolutely nothing about DND. Wow! I was absolutely impressed, and I found the narrative easy to follow, despite not being the target audience.

All three performers are extremely talented, and know how to engage the audience. And above all else, they are extremely talented musicians and vocalists. While the idea of a rock concert is not my cup of tea personally, I absolutely loved the music of this show. Jackson Card creates beautiful melodies, in addition to his stellar singing, and I was engaged from start to finish. Sheldon Stockdale and Scott Shpeley round out the talented trio.

This one has all the makings of a fringe holdover. Catch it if you can!

Very funny!! The music was well written and performed. This show is a lot of fun…go see it!

This show was described accurately but the quality of the musicianship was understated. I would go see this band anytime, anyplace. My wife mentioned that the performance reminded her of Jack Black ala Tenacious D and I would agree. Recommended for sure!!

This show was a lot of fun! We loved the creativity, the music, and the story. This show is for anyone, whether or not you are into D&D, this show is thoroughly enjoyable. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to see something a little different!

A “Best and Worst” Review

The Best: Performer Jackson Card’s musicality. Card is a good (and occasionally great!) singer, and his guitar-playing is mesmerizing. I am in awe of his talent.

The Worst: This show is low energy for the first two-thirds (but it picks up in the last two songs). The low energy is due to, in part, staging/direction, the early songs’ easy listening vibe, and certain vocal dynamics. These things are all fixable.

Overall: I appreciate the massive amount of talent that went into creating the original songs. If there was a cast recording, I’d listen to them again. But a single viewing was sufficient.
