The Taint Brothers

I truly and genuinely had no idea what I was getting myself into with this one. But after watching them wrestle a stranger, I'd follow Tony Adams into hell if it meant seeing them on stage there.

And here, with their pal Rod Peter Jr., Tony is hilarious. Each of the bros has incredible physicality, and full throttle commitment to their ridiculous bits.

Underneath the parody of masculinity and excessive consumption of Muscle Milk, there's a real heart here, with underlying themes of how masculinity can limit men. Rod in particular delivers a powerful monologue in this piece - I'd never seen him in a Fringe show before, but I'd love to see him do a storytelling piece someday.

Taint Brothers is one of those shows that I'm genuinely not sure how I would explain to somebody else, and I think that's a strength.

This show takes some really big swings.

I saw it at 2:30pm on a Wednesday, with a smaller crowd in the Westbury. That's not how this show wants to be seen, and all the credit to the performers for giving it their all in a tough timeslot.

This show is a combination of really bro-y sketch bits and clowning, heartfelt storytelling and extremely silly bits. Some of them whiffed, but many of them had me audibly laughing out loud (which is something I don't tend to do. Funny stuff generally gets quiet inward chortles from me). There is a bit with racecar noises that I loved.

There are points where the show would really be improved with the audience being loud, boisterous, whooping, hollering and cheering, and I think the vibes would be better in a later, more-sold crowd.

I heard the people near me debating walking out, while I was killing myself laughing at a bit. That's how you know a show has hit on something special.

There's lots of pretty low humour in this show, and if "The Taint Brothers" and the show description didn't tip you off, there's a good amount of dick jokes and scrotums. It's a smart show – I think. I'm pretty sure. Probably – but presented nearly exclusively through tripling-down on blue humour and dumb bits, and playing with extreme tonal whiplash.

I loved their past work including Iago vs Hamlet ★★★★½ (2025) and The War of 1812 from several years back. This show is not really anything like those. It's its own thing.

Absolutely worth seeing, but enter the theatre willing to let loose and just enjoy the ride.

A barrel of laughs and then so much more!!!! As I watched, I kept thinking “what’s next?” A fantastic roller coaster of laughs and gasps of shock. A great Fringe experience and exactly what you want and expect from the Edmonton Fringe. High calibre laughs and absurdity!

Is The Taint Brothers a series of penis and butt jokes? Yes. Is it a playful skewering of hyper-masculine stereotypes, while also trying to address the stigma of talking about men’s health and mental health? Also yes.

Is it hilarious? You betcha

A show like The Taint Brothers is hard to review. In part, this is because a lot of the humour works on the novelty or the unexpectedness of any given segment and describing it in too much detail would defeat the purpose. And you want to go into this fresh.

Does not leave a lot for the imagination which is welcomed at times. These two "bros" are clearly having a "bromance" but it was hilarious and funny and also dealing with some body dismorphia and pregnancy issues. Would like to go see it again.

I’m not sure why this isn’t selling out. Someone recommended it to me and told me nothing about it but to just go. Then I read the Edmonton Journal review which was glowing. How is this not sold out? It’s the craziest show I’ve ever seen. It’s one of the funniest shows. I hope they come back next year. Cause this show was on fire.

I knew upon seeing the preshow, a mix of Fringe artists recommending workout routines and Heated Rivalry-style edits of hockey players smashing into each other set to Robyn, that this would be a good time. This show is a wacky, chaotic journey through bits directly or tangentially about masculinity. I would’ve liked something to bring it all full circle at the end, but overall this was a solid pick and would make a great gap filler in a schedule.

My partner was laughing so hard that almost looked like having a seizure.

Also, this show is very sexy. WE LOVED IT!!!!!

I would watch again, and again; and again!

Someone give these guys a bravery award for this show — The Taint Brothers, a two-person comedy show may be one of the most funny and most absurd shows you could witness. Uproariously funny and hilariously strange, this show follows Tony Adams and Peter Rod Jr. as they make a comedy performance out of the ridiculousness of “masculinity.”

From photos of their dogs, choreographed German glute workouts, imagine dragon dance breaks, to separatist ballsacks, this show takes you on a rollercoaster of laughs. During this show it was, simply put, impossible to predict what would happen next.

While being incredibly funny, ridiculous, and playful, Tony and Peter also managed to make this show genuinely meaningful as well. From stories of testicular surgeries to being truly comfortable in one’s own body, the fact that they managed to make one of the most hilarious and wild shows into something eloquent as well is truly impressive.

This show is one of the funniest and weirdest things you might ever see. Be prepared to witness the male body leaving very little to imagination, but also be prepared to laugh the entire show and have a fantastic time.

The Taint Brothers is a beautiful example of what can only be described as “hilariously absurd.” Make your way down to see this show, and don’t forget to check out the merch on the way out — especially the soap.

Go to this show. Easily my favourite show that we’ve seen in years. You’ll never guess where it’s going. Always keeps you guessing. Not only one of the funniest shows you’ll see this year, but it’s also one the most touching. Was floored by it heart. Do not miss this show.

This might be the most Fringe show of all fringe. I didn’t know what I was getting into, but it blew my mind. And left with some special merch ( soap in the shape of something you’ll never guess )
