UNSUNG: The Accidental Villains of History

UNSUNG features catchy tunes and sharp wit that comically remasters different historical events and the famous figures who inadvertently caused some of the world’s greatest disasters. Not My Cup of Tea

Apparently I am just not a fan of mixed-up history, no matter how well performed. This show was not for me.

Things I did like: the horse lover, the cow (chewing the cud with resigned alacrity), the spiteful astronaut.

The rest was just okay. I’m talking about the story—such as it was, not really a story so much as a disconnected series of musical sketches—not the performers. The performers were committed and put their all into the show. I just wish the content of the show had appealed to me more.

This show was cute and a nice way to kick off my Fringe! Not earth shattering by any means, but the talent was really great!

Laughed So Hard I Cried

Loved it. Great songs. Great stories. Only minor disappointment was that the stories were all alluded to in the first song, so felt like there was no surprise

Ten-tickles My Fancy

It's hard to make history fun. But, this show is a testament to the creator's ability to find a way to do it. The show-stopping vocals of her cast are second to none. The stage is too small for their voices. Incredible. Each vignette is a snippet of an historical event that you thought you knew, but here, you have a different vantage point. Its music tells the story, with well placed visual and verbal comedic elements at play as the show steadily rolls along. The choreo was not just danced, but was emphasis on the story; at times the movement was the set. Cleverly inserted! Overall, it was a treat to watch and did not disappoint!! Well done!

What an incredibly talented cast! Each number is beautifully composed, the writing is sharp and genuinely funny, and the staging is lively and energetic. These folk clearly know - and love! - their musicals!

See It Again

The only crime in this colourful, historically-accurate❓🤔 musical is that it hasn’t reached Ed Mirvish as a full on production yet ❤️❤️❤️

Great concept and masterfully executed by each of the performers. I left wanting more and hoping to see a bigger and deeper production in the future.

Ten-tickles My Fancy

This show is comprised of little short scenes to tell a specific story. The format worked well to keep the show lively and the audience excited for more. The cast is incredibly talented-hope to see them in more plays in the future!

Splash Zone Survivor

I found this show was quirky and fun. It's kind of like SIX meets Shrek meets Spelling Bee meets Hamilton but without the rap, mixed in with some Veggie Tales. Each number has lots of notable moments. My personal favorite performer was Katrina Martinez, her voice took hold of the room and filled the space, she was a stand out for sure. All the performers were great but she was phenomenal, rising star right there. Some points during the show, it was hard to hear the backing tracks but wasn't a deal breaker. The show itself is silly, it tries to be historical but I felt it needing more mature comedy moments. For example, the scene with the French villain, he needed to be flamboyant, almost upping it to play the stereotype of a crazy French man. At points, i found myself enjoying the stories and others I felt like I was watching a kid's show with confusing storylines. I loved the fishing rod and the horse sequences.

Music and vocal wise, no notes. Strong singers and storytellers. Maybe more buttons at the end of the songs to tell that, yes this song is done then blackout. Costumes and set were great too. Choreography was cute.

Overall, the show needed to play to it's strengths of being overly silly but not ridiculous, once they find that medium it'll be amazing. It was still a really good experience and I had a good time with the show. Congrats to the cast and crew.

Ten-tickles My Fancy

Lively energetic cast who sing and dance their heart out to some great tunes with witty lyrics worthy of W.S. Gilbert. Great fun, but the show in its present form at present feels like a series of vignettes or skits with no unifying through-line or story.
