Bev.
I didn’t think I was enjoying it, but by the end I walked away in a great mood and with great things to say. It creeps up on you. And there is tea.
I was done with this play in the first ten or fifteen minutes. Unfortunately they missed the mark with what could’ve been a very moving or funny play. People love to relate to dumpster fire scenarios like our health care system. But the jokes just weren’t funny, and the doctor was the villain over the system which seemed to undermine the efficacy of lectures we were given. And if I’d knew we’d be lectured instead of laughing with Greg’s Anatomy parallels, I wouldn’t have bought tickets. I can’t remember a single Greys Anatomy joke - but maybe I had just tuned out by then.
I’m usually skeptical of the “laugh so hard I cried” category but I truly cried at last night’s Secret Secrets Club show. The secretary was absolutely key to the hilarity and did amazing, the performers on stage were on fire.
