Mind Blown

I wanted to see at least one dance work at Fringe and I'm glad I picked this one. It was great to see the diversity in the ensemble and everyone having a moment to shine in the piece. The music ranged in rich genres but I especially loved the rave/club moment halfway through. The projections complimented the movement well, serving as an extension, a doubling, a stretching of the ensemble's movements.

Oh BROTHER, these guys she’s hooking up with STINK. Loved the show, the oscillation between comedy and drama was A1! No IS a complete sentence. Your pleasure and safety matters. Go see this show!

See It Again

Really glad I started my Fringe with this show. The play was funny, the costumes were amazing and overall had a great message: believe in yourself! If there’s another run in the future, I will definitely bring my niece to see this! Also love the Celine Dion reference.

This work explores culture, queer identity, resistance and the lineages of anti-Black racism throughout history, embedded in the contemporary realities of “playing mas” at Toronto Carnival. The ensemble’s performances, scenic design and live instrumentation, all 10 out of 10. Rhoma Spencer is a legend in Toronto theatre and with other established Toronto theatre artists reaching a creative ceiling in 2026, Spencer has only further developed her artistic practice with an incredible new work that is inherently intergenerational and generative of the conversations in this moment.
