35MM is exactly what it advertises: a collection of song interpretations of a series of photographs. This production brings those stories to life in amazing ways. Five very talented singers blend their voices seamlessly and beautifully while moving throught the space. Some songs are quirky, some are sad, and a couple are tragic. The actors convey the messages with their facial expressions and movement. AMAZING show. Don't miss this one.
I’m just going to get my biggest criticism out of the way off the top: I don’t particularly care for the concept of 35MM. It’s novel, but didn’t land for me.
So it’s a good thing the performers — Matthew Gregg, Corben Kushneryk, Layne Labbe, Damon Pitcher and Mackenzie Tennessen — are such strong, dynamic singers. They navigated the various styles of the production with ease.
Labbe, especially, brought the angst of young love to life during On Monday, and Kushneryk hilariously depicted the horrors of nannying for a terror child named Caralee.
This show was so unique! It felt like something that you would see in New York City! The venue was like a 360° experience and the audience was immersed in the show. A screen showed different photography throughout the performance to complement the songs. There wasn’t really a plot or a story. It seemed like most of the songs were about love and romantic relationships. The vocal performances were excellent.
This is nothing short of a fantastic production! The highly talented cast and crew bring their absolute best work into the space with powerful acting, stellar singing, and tight choreography that will leave your head spinning. I can’t wait to see it again later this week. It’s easily an off-Broadway caliber show right here in Edmonton audiences are going to be blown away by. This is my favorite show from Fringe this year without a doubt, go experience it!

This show offers an exploration into the stories hidden behind photography, told in a very unique fashion. The seamless transitions, raw heart-wrenching acting, and the physical and vocal chemistry between the performers makes it evident that they were meant to share these stories together. Their captivating stage presence keeps you invested in each story, and although you may not always understand, the variety of musical styles ensures every moment feels dynamic and genuine.
The powerful vocals and live music beautifully complement Matthew Murphy’s photographs, making it a truly immersive and enjoyable experience.
