Hip.Bang! presents You Bet

This show is a ton of fun. It’s a unique concept and well delivered. Continuous audience participation throughout as you bet on pretty much everything going on in the show (via your smartphone), with a nice balance of sketches and stories scattered in.

This show was a lot of fun. The advertising for the show should emphasize that you should bring your smart phone. There was a lot of variety to break up the concept of the show. I can’t say more without spoilers. A funny couple of guys!

These guys are changing the game! High, edge of your seat, energy! Do yourself a favour and check these guys out, you won't regret it.

Hip.Bang! never miss. I'm always so interested to see how far Devin and Tom will push the technological limits of a show and this one is incredibly ambitious and so fascinating. Of course, regardless of what's happening on the tech side these comedy stalwarts deliver non-stop laughs and an incredible warmth and comfort on the stage that only comes from years (over a decade now I believe!) in working together. You'll want to see this one.

Hip Bang is a Fringe Favourite, and I would bet that more than 70 percent of us enjoy improv comedy. Their newest creation, You Bet, delivers, with a combination of scripted and improvised elements, spiced with the alluring unpredictability of a show where the audience controls much of the content.

In an innovative intersection of entertainment and interactive technology, audience is invited to bet on outcomes throughout the show. It’s here that we are drawn in to the funny/not funny aspects of betting. And here, sketch/satire/improv do the work they do best, shining a light (lightly) on societal norms, individual free will, and the problem of gambling addiction.

Silly, loud, exciting, somewhat dangerously unpredictable and messy? yes! Also smart social commentary. I bet you will agree it is worth your time and (pretend) betting money.

WARNING – Gamblers Beware

An evening of betting on just about everything. Sure, taken to the extreme, gambling can be disastrous, but it can also be fun, exciting and downright ridiculous.

So why not spend an evening gambling on everything from whether the next audience member will sit in the front row to online roulette, where the house puts its own earnings on the line?

Bring your phone and watch society’s gambling addiction play out in the most laughable way possible.

Hilarious, innovative show — a must see!

THIS. Loved how the audience could bet on things that would happen in the show. Audience participation was absolutely on point. Much of the scenes in between was a duo masterclass from two improv veterans who spoke of their history of struggles and triumphs in the improv world while extorting as much fake money and sympathy from the audience as they can. Sometimes just telling them to leave for how much money they are costing them.

In the end it was all good laughs and sourdough, putting it all on black to win.

I loved every minute.

Funny as hell!!! My very first Fringe show, and this show got me hooked in seeing more shows.

Was smiling and laughing the whole time my cheeks were so sore by the end! Had great energy even before the show began with audience participation the whole show. Does require work on the audience's part but that's part of the fun. Obviously very experienced improv performers and the ending of the show went out with a bang!

Hip Bang! always shows up with a weird show that makes you laugh, groan, and absurdly confused at least once, but leaves you with a life lesson. This one is no different; it's very funny, and the message at the end is pure chaos.

I went to the first show, which had some (still entertaining) technical bugs, but my friends and I were completely aligned that we needed to see it again.

Don't forget to give their album a look after the show! It's very good.

Devin and Tom are the Vancouver kings of improv/sketch comedy.

They kept the room and myself laughing the whole time.

Everyone was super focused on betting the laughs would continue with the silliest betting scenarios.

Even though I volunteered to embarass myself on stage, I am still leaving them a positive review because these dudes will make to feel comfortable enough to laugh at yourself.

They had technical issues which sucked. But it was their first show of the season and they rolled with the punches, not skipping a beat to make everyone laugh Which I 100% believe they were fixed for the next show. (Fingers crossed)

It was such a fantastic show that the technical difficulties didn't matter. We even bought tickets for their last show this season because we couldn't get enough.

EDIT: Saw this a second time. They smoothed out the wrinkles with their betting app. Their show improved from the beginning of the run exponentially. These guys run a tight show. I'd see them again and again and again.

Looking forward to seeing their 'Treat Show' soon.
