LIVE IN HELL
La Diabla Blanca is in top cringe form. In proxy-Hell we get the pleasure of visiting her technologically depressed hovel for a ride through her sexually distressed and (very contemporary) demonic thoughts. Nervy, high-energy, and delightfully relatable, the devil is really in the details with this audience-engaged, hyper-playful tongue in cheek musical romp. Hats off to a meal of a performance and special nod to the fabulous props, brava brava!
This was by FAR my favorite show of this year's Fringe (I saw 19). It's not what you are expecting. Very unique, funny, smart, weird, a bit disgusting (in a great way), the whole 9 yards. I'm going to see it again when it plays next month and I am bringing friends! I could watch this woman doing dishes, nevermind impersonating Satan.
The devil hooks you in with her playful banter before putting you on your ass with the realities of the world. Incredible crowd work and throughly entertaining!
Weird to be rooting for the literal devil, but she was so funny and charming it was impossible not to.
Such a brave and punky show— it really turns the fallen man angel into a tortured woman driving her thumb into taboos and modern horror.
A push toward challenging perspectives and dualities latent within binary, sterilized society— Marita has successfully amazed and liberated the tortured do-gooder in me.
Be prepared to question your stance on major social and political themes while laughing your ass off.

The best way to describe this I fear is watching an impulsive toddler having a temper tantrum, except the toddler is a grown woman and also the devil.
Extremely funny, surprisingly bold in how far she was willing to go, it really is an amazing time, and one that is hard to describe without giving too much away. Highly recommend you go and see it!

As the audience took their seats in Performance Works pre-show, our eyes rested on a comedically oversized cardboard Amazon delivery box. I've seen plenty of theatre; obviously, in it waited this one-woman-show's one woman. Suspense set in. Once the lights came down and the Devil Herself emerged, a sly grin didn't leave my face until well after curtain call. I felt like I was in on the joke. This masterpiece had unfolded before me, all for me.
"Commitment to the Bit" and an utter lack of shame are common traits in actors, but Marita Michaelis outdoes all competitors. This is a very silly and very crude play, but throughout - inbetween bouts of raucous laughter - I found myself marveling at the nuance and sophistication with which this show explores the Nature of Evil and the mollified complicity of living in the Imperial Core.
LIVE IN HELL could've easily been another fun-but-forgettable Fringe romp through personal anecdotes about dildos and vacations to Barcelona. It's something more. It's hilarious. It's surprising. It meets our moment in the fires of 2026.

Very based Performance. Fully demonic loved every minute of it can’t believe what she did to Greta And I left, wondering if anyone ever chose the pope if any other crowds ever chose the pope. Highly recommend for the sophisticated nasty
One of those experiences where you don't quite know how you got there, but you did, so thoroughly were you possessed by the she-devil herself. Charmed, edged, and bled, LIVE IN HELL is a must for these soiled times.
My prayers are with Ms She Devil, I witnessed an hour of bratty debauchery, a reprehensible force of nature that will stoop to incomprehensible lows for a laugh. I regret to admit I couldn’t break my focus, and got down into the slop. I found myself cheering for this incorrigible miscreant. It wasn’t sexy. It wasnttuuhhh!

Provocative in the most pleasantly silly way. An outstanding solo play that never feels empty and lashes you with its charm, rapid fire cultural references and absurdity. Highly recommended to all those seeking a witty comedy with a soul, just be careful that it doesn’t take yours.

The only time I wasn’t laughing during this play was when I was stunned into silence. Marita’s performance as the devil is really energetic and cartoon but also really nuanced and varied, she just kept on shocking me and endearing me and disgusting me over and over and over again. I loved her and I was scared of her and she disgusted me and I couldn’t look away. The productions design is also just good, the lighting especially is so creative and ghoulish and playful and im just a big fan. Also there’s puppetry.
Such vulnerability in such a small, sexy package. Heartbreaking and hilarious all at once.
Critical comedy - squirming in our seats as the she-devil herself holds a mirror to the audience. Whether she (we) blows up the world or not - we were laughing on the outside and crying on the inside. Incredible writing and capacity to confront our collective passivity. A must see.

I squealed, l squeamed & I squirmed throughout this show - definitely deliciously decadent! Like Devil’s Food Cake, but with hot sauce instead of sweetness. Go try some!!!
