See It Again

Brilliantly written, beautifully performed by three incredibly talented women. This show kept the audience engaged the whole time. Laughter, mystery, intrigue, it had it all. Highly recommend.

I appreciated that after the land acknowledgment and they had a warning that there would be loud effects and flashing lights.

However, the loud effect sometimes seemed to draw away from the show and seemed unnecessary. I also found the bubble chat noise too loud for me to focus on what the actors were saying. There were also 3D glasses, which gave clear instructions for when you have them on. Though as someone who wears glasses, I find that the paper 3D glasses do not work for me and would like to have the option of having the larger plastic ones that are in movie theatres. I also think that bit of a gimmick is unnecessary for the action that was happening on stage. So I chose to not have the 3D glasses and it worked fine. The story was interesting, and the interaction between the characters was great. I think the script could be tightened up and could lose some of the sound effects, but I enjoyed the story and the representations of love.

A knock your socks off play, written, performed and directed by university students that will leave you talking about it long after it ends! The play is witty and moves along at a pace which will leave you with your mouth open as the story unfolds. If you like twists be prepared for a big one, with a performance that is so very startling I held my breath! It’s a must see!

PRIMADONNA will have you hooked right from the top of the show. It is chock-full of twists and turns, and the cast of three is completely filled with an absolutely electric energy and an innate ability to bring such dynamic characters to life. You truly won't know exactly what to expect until the very end, as more and more truths are uncovered throughout the duration of the play, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats the entire time. I truly have to commend everyone involved—the lighting and sound design were outstanding, the actors had delectable energy and charisma, and the script was a brilliant mixture of complex, mysterious, humourous, and chilling. Overall... this show is a must-see!

This show was not on my radar at all, but I managed to get a ticket to Monday night's sold out show, and it was very different than any other show I had seen thus far this year. It was extremely well done - set was simple, but effective, and the lighting and sound elevated the story (there's also a scene towards the end of show that involves the audience in a way I personally have never experienced - I won't spoil it here, but you are given something before the show starts to use during this scene!). There are some laughs scattered throughout, but the bulk of this show definitely left you sitting, waiting for what would happen next. There's a part in the middle where I was admittedly a little lost as to what was going on, but once I figured it out, I was fine, and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the show.

Highly recommend if you are looking for a dramatic, suspenseful, thriller-type of show.

Just saw Primadonna at the Fringe ! 🎭

It’s clever, and has great characters. The performers have amazing stage presence. Simple staging, but it totally works because the energy and talent carry the whole thing. Such great actors to pull off the monologues in this paly.

Fame, Obsession, and Disappearance - Sydney Boisvert

Primadonna is a gripping suspense thriller that kept me engaged from start to finish. Expertly written by Liam Witte, the story delves into the dangerous allure of celebrity culture, revolving around the mystery of a vanished pop star and the desperate search to uncover her truth. The tension is heightened not only by the clever writing but also by the powerful performances and seamless technical design.

The story was brilliantly complex, taking the audience through layers of deception, obsession, and shifting loyalties. Just when it seemed like the truth was within reach, another twist would send the narrative in a new direction. The script maintained high stakes and sharp suspense, constantly prompting the audience to question who could be trusted and what was real. It was the kind of story that remained unpredictable, making the final moments even more powerful.

The cast brought remarkable depth to their roles. Kate Boswell delivered a stunning transformation, shifting from innocent and unaware to meticulous and chilling, leaving the audience deeply unsettled. Avery Nault balanced power and comedy, providing sharp moments of levity while maintaining an edge of suspense. Mariana Perri was unforgettable as the overlooked younger sister, tugging at the heartstrings and grounding the story with emotional depth.

The atmosphere was enhanced by fantastic lighting and sound cues, which intensified both the drama and the unease, immersing us in the world of Daisy Donna’s disappearance. The sound design in particular, done by Abby Witte, underscored moments of tension, making every twist land with even greater impact .Every moment felt intentional and precise, drawing the audience deeper into a spiral of obsession and paranoia.

This parasocial thriller is more than just entertainment; it serves as an incisive reflection on the costs of fame, devotion, and the narratives we create about public figures. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a twisty suspense filled with emotion, sharp performances, and an unsettling truth.

See It Again

This thriller what happened to the missing pop star story was polished from start to finish. The actors were sharp and emotionally engaged. The storyline was gripping. I only got a little lost in the middle for a bit. Try to make it to this one. The place was pretty packed so I wonder if it might start selling out as more reviews come out.

Primadonna was an absolute highlight of the Fringe! 🎭 It’s a sharp, funny social parody on the world of social media—equal parts hilarious and unsettling. Beneath the laughs, the play leans into darker, obsessive undertones that kept me hooked from start to finish.

The writing is whip-smart and brilliantly layered, striking the perfect balance between comedy and commentary. And the performances? Absolutely fantastic. The actresses brought so much energy, nuance, and charisma to the stage—it was impossible to look away.

If you’re at the Fringe and want something clever, funny, and a little haunting, Primadonna is a must-see. 👏

See It Again

I really enjoyed Primadona—it pulled us in right from the start and kept me thinking the whole way through. The story of the missing prima donna is mysterious and a little sad at times. We loved how the show created such a strong story that made us part it, not just watching it. After, my husband and I were still talking about it and discussing our take of the play.

This play is written produced and acted by Edmonton university students. It is bold, different, and full of energy. PRIMADONNA is exactly what we hoped to find at Fringe, and we'd highly recommend it.
