Shirley Gnome: Kiss & Yell
Juno nominee, 2024 holdover and 2025 sell-out sensation returns with a new hour of gloriously uninhibited music comedy. Her songs fuse razor-sharp wit with infectious melodies, flipping expectations into the joyfully explicit.
Shirley Gnome is a rare talent. Her shows always stand out as delightfully unhinged. The way she sees life is so interesting and how she can turn her perspectives into songs so creative, smart, and HILARIOUS is a superpower. Don’t let the poster scare you, unless you really hate it and her tactic to weed out the wrong kind of audience is working like a charm. The last two songs didn’t hit as hard as the rest of the show for me or else would have been 5 stars.
Ronchy and amazing!! Very funny and an amazing voice
This show was HILARIOUS. Shirley is a PRESENCE! X-rated content packaged in a classy cowgirl aesthetic. Her vocal range was awesome, her writing even better. Before this show, I was worried about the cost of medical screenings, but now I’m excited for an under the table colonoscopy. Thanks Shirley! You’re a ⭐️
Shirley Gnome is a funny gal, but beyond that she’s a wicked smart and clever gal. Her shows are highly entertaining and I’ve never been disappointed after attending one. She’s the real deal, adult content from an adult who’s seen some stuff! 10/10 will always recommend. She’s a star!
Returning to the Edmonton Fringe with a brand new act of raunchy, funny original songs, Shirley Gnome is a must see. Her songs cover a broad range of topics, from the relatable to the simply outlandish. With lyrics that are as quick and witty as they come and a virtuosic voice that easily commands the stage, Gnome is a truly masterful comedian and songwriter. She has a confidence on stage that speaks of many years spent performing, and an artist who knows exactly what they’re doing. If you want stand up comedy, Gnome is a fantastic choice - likewise if you want a music show. The two elements work hand in hand excellently, creating a unique and highly memorable piece of theatre. The Grindstone serves as the perfect venue for this show, creating the intimate, bar-like vibe that fits Shirley Gnome like a glove. Gnome says that she started as a children’s performer, which is almost hard to believe, if it weren’t for her infectiously upbeat personality that can’t help but lift up everyone in the audience. This show is a crazy good time, and it would be a challenge to not enjoy it.
Fifth show of the day for me and hands-down the funniest and most clever. This was my first Shirley Gnome show, and I can see why she is a perennial Fringe favorite. Her incredible voice somehow made the silly lyrics even funnier. Would 100% see this again.
