Adam Proulx
Bruce is one of my favourite Fringe artists touring today. This show is raw, riveting, funny, and touching – with a family dinner scene worth the ticket alone. The self-controlled lighting design is visually stunning and unique. Don’t miss this one.
Adam is a master storyteller. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. He takes you on such a journey, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more.
Exposed is a moving and celebratory time at the theatre. Great storytelling from the guests and headliners the night I was there.
I’ll keep it short: Josie/Juice the Trauma Clown is the future of Fringe. See them now so you can say you were there at the start.
This production is so ambitious for Fringe and it pays off! The two performers are really stellar both in terms of their acting and their singing. It’s a moving and important story.
In a theatre festival chock-full of sketch, improv, comedy, etc., it is such a rare treat to see a genuine play/musical executed so well.
I genuinely loved this show.
Matti is a wonderfully charming host whose passion shines. He weaves in his personal journey beautifully, and I even learned some things along the way! What a delight.
This team knows how to take you on a journey and hit multiple emotional notes even in a concept like an open mic at the Calgary Zoo. Inventive costumes (special mention to the dangly elephant trunk!) and a running gag that builds to one of my favourite endings of the festival. Something for everyone. Don’t miss it.
The kind of bizarre, madcap absurdism Fringe is made for. A terrific concept, wildly executed, and anchored by a truly charming performer.
I’ve seen this twice now in different iterations, and Johnnie remains singular in what he does. Funny, touching, and completely compelling – I was rapt the whole time. A must-see.
Shirley Gnome is a jewel of the Fringe. It’s stiff competition, but this might be my favourite show of hers yet – absurd, hilarious, and a perfect use of her as a character and performer. A true artist at work. She’s selling out and she deserves it. Book fast.
Jon Blair is a master, and we’re lucky to have him. This goes far beyond a typical comedy show – smart, charming, and a brilliant showcase of his myriad skills as a performer.
